I can't believe I have been a member of this forum for a year already!
I have learned so much and have met so many wonderful people here on the forum.
I went from wanting one simple little fig tree (and that's it - I just want one!! - famous last words lol) to rooting about 12 varieties now (not including the 3 or four I killed over the summer), to start a fig hedge! A fig hedge!! What a great idea - I wish I thought of it!!
But that's what a forum is all about. People sharing their ideas and experiences pertaining to a specific topic. We come from all walks of life, from different parts of the world, different races and religions.
Some of us are scraping buy doing what we can do on a shoestring budget, some of us are doing better and may not be as constrained by a tight budget. Some may be in an apartment with a few trees by a window, some are in a modest tract house, and some have acreage. Some are new to figs and just had a fresh fig for the first time in their life this year or recently - fabulous! Some were raised with a fig tree in the backyard. People on the forum are working, disabled, or retired, have never worked or may even be a student - we all have one thing in common - we love figs.
Jon, thank you so much for making this forum available to everyone one of us. If it wasn't for this forum I would still have my fig tree - just the one and would not have met so many nice people. Thank you for the latitude you extend on some of the discussions, I see you take the moderator position with some distance to allow people to express themselves. Most of these conversations would not have been allowed on other forums to the extent you have, I think it's OK, especially since we are not in the same room physically LOL!
I like it here so I will stick around .
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year.
