Sad story!

What a magnificent tree . It would be truly sad if they were forced to cut it down . It's good that have a barrier around the tree .

I need to know what humidity i should keep my figs in , they arein   the clear plastic cup

Cut the tree down..It's almost killed people.  Give the cuttings away and that tree will live forever. By the way, i got dibs on trying to root the trunk cutting

It is a sad story for the tree.  It has been there long before the school, playground and parking lot. 

Trimming first is teh way to go. even if propagated by cuttings it would not be the same thing with the same trunk. 

cutting all the old branches, wouldn't that be enough?

It is not Ficus Carica but still a beautiful tree. They could have hired a arborist to prune it for safety. Another rooted tree will take generations to reach such a majestic stage.
