143-36 is a winner here,in NJ

For a white fig,is very good and adapted here.

This Sommer had cold June and September to now,yet this cultivar has good tasting fruits, ripe relativelly early,70 grams,is only 4 yrs old, fruited last year too.
Will give it a 10 for a white fig.and a 9,compared to all,best  figs,black and white,I had a chance to taste here,in Nj.

Good looking Fig,

Powerful looking hand!

It has been a consistent winner at UC Davis when they have taste tests. Almost has more fruits than leaves on my tree.

Herman, that's a very high score for the 143-36. Was it grown unprotected last winter? If so, has it been able to withstand as much cold as Marseille Black vs, since you have been trialing it? Bob

anywhere this one is for sale?

Herman, Thanks for sharing.
Ken Love only gave it 3 out of 10 in his taste chart. it was possibly picked too soon.
ken love taste test

Pix this season:

Robert:It was inground, and died about half.
The score is for the taste and adaptability to rain, and not to how cold hardy it is.
Ken Love Might have been giving it a 3 because in Haway,it might be so.
I am not contradicted him.
Figs behave different in Different climates.
There are many cultivars that deserve a 3 here, and a 10 in Haway!!!!!.
Happy Gardening

Papayamon -- Try Encanto Farms. Our Canadian fig guru Adriano told me said this is a winner.

I dont mean to but into thread Herman.

Papayamon i saw you post "does anyone have this for sale" .
Read thread Buyer Beware about ebay seller because this one is also listed there.

yes martin i read that. it's great that we have a community to keep misinformation from spreading. for example, let's say i bought that, grew it, gave a few plants out to friends, etc. then there would be several people out there thinking they had a when they had b. the damage isn't just to one person. and all so someone can scam for a few bucks.

these clowns do us all the worst disservice.

i'm hoping that there will be a lot of offerings in the spring by reputable folks. i'm finding it very hard to add new varieties at the moment. i don't at all mind paying 30 bucks for a nice rooted branch of a superior variety. but considering that i'm leaving to go to texas for 3 or 4 months and i can't tend my plants, i'm not too eager to buy the very expensive varieties, only to come back and find them dead :). it's getting too late in the year to get a plant established enough to get it through the winter. i may lose half of what i got now :).

does encantofarms have a list of plants for sale online, or do you have to enquire about each individually by email?

Mike,
here is Jon's link, look around

http://www.figs4fun.com/

Papayamon - I bought mine from Jon last year. First class service & you know what you get is real. I got a very healthy plant & Jon even replaced a plant that died(Not his fault) FOC when I bought some plants this year. Amazing memory.
