Plus my 9 in-ground trees makes for a nice sampler plate in a few years. I went all out on the SWCs this year after hearing great feedback. I chose the covered version, as I liked the thought of the slow release fertilizer/nutrients not being washed out. The 3 buried pots pictured are Dotatto, Negronne, and Gino Black. I'm anxious to see how everything does this year. 97% of what you see are from cuttings started last year. 2013 was a huge disappointment in growth, so I veered from using standard pots and switched to Pro-Mix BX with earthworm castings and Osmocote slow release fert.
I also started 11 unk-Carini from scrap cuttings by simply placing in a pot and leaving in full shade. Between my father and siblings, they'll be happy to have these.
Caging the in-ground trees is a must. The deer chomp on everything in the yard.
