187-25

Hi, I am new to the forum but so far I love all the information I have found here.

I have been growing figs about 4 years now, mostly Panache figs in Northern California.  I have 3 Panache figs and one that I think is a Black Mission (it is black/purple with a honey-like interior).  I have one seedling that was a volunteer from a squirrel perhaps.  And I am trying to propagate many Panache figs as they are my favorite.

I am wondering about this 187-25 fig I have heard about, but no one seems to have it except UC Davis.  I placed an order but could be waiting a while.  Is there anyone who has 187-25 cuttings or seedlings they can send me?  I am willing to pay.

Thanks!

I don't have that variety, but just wanted to say welcome to the forum!

Thanks :)

I believe I saw some cuttings on eBay the other day, of what you want. : )

Thanks, I will check ebay, but I don't see any there, currently.

The last I saw was this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/UCR-187-25-fig-cuttings-2-/331441888279?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d2b79dc17

That was January :/

I do hope your user name is in reference to enjoying perhaps too many figs.

It's a private joke with my friends from when I was a kid.  We were skinny as rails and we called each other variations on fat.  We were weird :)

Welcome!  I'll look to see if mine is still dormant.  I think you're going to like your Panache better.  There are many of the more expensive figs I haven't tried but if I were you I'd look for a St Rita and some of the Col de Dames.

Thanks for the advice!  I will definitely check those out.  I think I have seen Col de Dames on ebay.  Pretty soon I am going to have to remove shrubs for all my figs.
