February 27, 2015 my Brown Turkey fig is showing its 1st fruit of the year, about 3 weeks until into the oatmeal they go. Time to get the netting frame out I guess. Is there anyone else in the desert S.W. active on this forum to compare plantings with? My fig bushes are the desert standards,, Improved Brown Turkey, Kadota and Conradia (my favorite). All three are kept in a bush form, topping off at about 8' by fall then pruned back when dormant the 1st of the year. sdpops  Yuma, AZ zone 10

I might have the 2 mixed up but isn't brebas supposed to be under the leaves and the main crop within the leaves

Hi JC--I don't know about placement above or below leaves but this is the 6th season for this Brown Turkey and every year, shortly after the leaves emerge on the last growth of the past year, I get  numerous figs at each leaf joint with a real rush about the 1st half of April. In a couple of months I will start getting new fruit on the current years growth at every leaf joint up until about mid November. My dormant period here is only from about Thanksgiving to early February. My Conadria, this is it's 4th season, follows much the same pattern but a month or so later. I guess I just have assumed that the early figs were breba because of the wood they fruited on and the time of year. Interesting question. sdpops Yuma, AZ zone 10

Thanks Joe, I've copied your YouTube link and will look at it. I may have seen some of yours already because the Tube is where I often go for info on almost every thing. While I have occasionally read through forums I seldom have commented but figs4fun seems to be more fun than others. sdpops

We bought acreage to grow a vineyard and figs, and the big problem with that is, SLOW connections.  You tube is not a factor here.  Can't get it.  But we get good figs, good grapes......  Sometimes you just deal with it.  You tube is tough to load here in Siberia.
