This past January, a generous friend gave me a dormant, started cutting of Kesariani. I picked the 1st two ripe figs today, and they were very delicious. Sweet, rich flavor, somewhat along the lines of RdB to my taste buds. So far, it is one of the earliest main crop figs I've had ripen. Small to medium size, with a jammy texture. Excellent for 1st fruit of a young plant.
One other interesting note, the plant wants very much to grow in a bush form. New growth constantly from the bottom. In fact, the main stem of the cutting did not grow at all from the tip. It was about 6" long, and just would not grow. So I pruned it off, cut it into 2 pieces, and put them in coir. They both rooted quickly and are now growing well. The interesting part is how different the leaves are from each other. 2 plants from the same cutting, and they look very different. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Looking at that last photo gives one pause in trying to identify unknowns
prior to fruiting.Such a variance in leaf shape.Nice looking fig.

Nice report, Gary.  I have several varieties that like to grow like shrubs.  Andreas jokes that these are bushes, not trees.

I had another fig I rooted 4 cuttings of two years ago and one had distinctly different leaves even when it was over 2' tall so I kept 1 tree each of the 2 forms and sold 2 others.  The next year both I kept had the same leaves.  Figs are just strange about that to the point I think they do it so they can laugh at us so I just laugh with them.

Sorry to jump in like this but does anyone see a resemblance to the Etna type figs. I have a HC that looks almost identical, leaves and fruit. Not saying that it's the same!!!! Maybe related?

Anyone wanting to sell or trade cuttings or air layers let me know  :)

Thank you, Harvey. Chris and Igor, I agree that it seems very similar to the Mt. Edna figs that I have seen. I do not have HC, but my MVSB is quite close in leaf and fruit, though it has yet to ripen main crop this year.

I should have my 1st fruit for this year in a day or so. Last year I have 1st fruit recorded at 8/3, which was pretty early. This year for me it is showing to be pretty much mid-season in ripening in looking at relative to my others.  I have not had Breba from it.

The Kesariani fruits are smaller than MBVS or HC for me so far.  Will need to taste some more to compare the taste.  My MBVS and HC are older trees, though, so not entirely comparable.

Beautiful picture Harvey!  Wow!   For those that don't know....Harvey's figs are pollinated by the wasp.  So, if you live in a non-wasp area, your figs won't look like those in his pictures.  They will look like Gary's.  I'm not trying to down Harvey at all.  Just want folks to know the wasp will pollinate common figs too.  This act alters the color, size, look, and taste of a ripe fig.  In other words, a caprified Brown Turkey or California Brown Turkey is flat out hard to beat.  Both are very rich tasting figs.  So, having the wasp pollinate common figs is a very good thing.  Hope to so day have the wasp in NC!

Thanks, Dennis.  That's a bit too much of a generalization, however.  With "wasps in the area", I know for a fact that not all of my figs are caprified.  My Marabout C. Smyrna always dropped figs until I placed profichi within the tree.  The Kesariani was planted in the orchard about a month after I had put profichi in some of my orchard's trees (it had been in a pot near my house) so I don't really know if it was caprified or not.  My best guess is that maybe 50% chance.
