Sure thing, Frank.  I'll ground-layer one, too, that you can have for free if your cuttings don't work out.

One of my Vistas is growing in a gravel growbed with fishy water flowing through the gravel, and if I bend it over and partially bury it in the gravel, it'll root.  After the roots get established, I could sever it, jiggle off the gravel, ziploc the bare-root plant along with a damp paper towel, and send it in a padded envelope.

Thanks-order placed

Thanks so much James! These prices are unbelievable! You are Da Man! : )

Placed my order. Thank you James.

Bump

Thanks for providing me a way to start my own home fig orchard! I can already see myself going way overboard with this :-). I am interested in quite a few of the varieties listed as growing in your greenhouse too. Will you post on the forum when they are ready or should I just check your website periodically?

Glad to be helpful :)

I'll post an update in this thread when those later cuttings are ready.  They probably won't go dormant until late December or January, though, so it'll be a while.

Hey, well I'm gonna place my second order now that I mentioned when asking about double shipping charges. Quick question you have white Marseilles and Dr. Monticello, is one the closed eye one I've read about and the other open eye? Are they the same just from different sources originally? Just wasn't sure which to get and they are almost gone. Thanks for the help and awesome prices.

Thanks for the offer! I picked up a couple. And yes, fairly new to figs. I harvested one fig this year from a cutting.
I live in the Midwest, should I keep cuttings in the fridge till closer to spring? or should i root them now?

Dr. Monticello's is a dark fig, like Black Mission, whereas White Marseilles is a light fig, like Italian Honey.

Happy figging :)

Depends on how much time and effort you want to put into them over the winter, and whether you can provide a suitable environment for them.

I personally start all of my cuttings as soon as I get them in the fall and winter, since that helps me fruit most of them the 1st year despite our short outdoor growing season.  Similarly, waking up potted plants early results in more fruiting by extending the season.  But keep in mind that I have some greenhouses that are pretty helpful.  I think most folks can handle starting at least a few cuttings, though, without getting overwhelmed or needing a greenhouse, so I'd say go for it if you want to do some.

Greenfin,

When will you be shipping these out. The reason why I ask is I am thinking of adding to my order and want to get it in before it ships so I can avoid additional shipping.  Thanks!

It'll depend on the weather, but best guess is probably early November.

Great thanks!

Thanks Greenfin. I have south windows, and a 4 bulb T-5 light VHO also, not HO. I do have other plants, I will probably start them, thanks.
I have other lights for veggie seeds and such.

James,

When will you be releasing prices/amounts of your other cuttings?

It'll be quite a while from now, maybe around the end of December.  I'll post an update in this thread when I do.

Hi James, are all these varieties all self pollinators, any chance of international shipping? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I bought five or six different varieties on Sep 24. Was disappointed the Violette de Bordeaux was already sold out

If you find that you underestimated the amount of VDB cuttings you will have, please consider placing me in the front of the queue for either 2 or 3 cuttings

Looking forward to November or whenever these ship, and thanks

None of these need the fig wasp, but unfortunately I don't ship internationally.

Hi James, thanks for the super fast response, just would like to know if it's legal for cuttings to be mailed from the usa to asia, if yes then i will order it to be sent to new york and then have them sent to me in asia. Thanks again.

I'm not sure, you'll have to do your own research on that.  The requirements probably vary by country.
