I dont know how these got here but this alwayse happens this time of year.

Are those seedlings or growing through the cracks from an established tree?

I think they are fron seeds because the tree is on the other side of the house its way to far for that to happen, I think I am no pro and only 19 but i tink its to far.

Could very well be the roots from the tree mentioned or could be there used to be  a tree there long ago and someone chopped it off to build over it and the roots continue to shoot out suckers.

Or seedlings like mentioned.

I just seen this today, they must be from seeds, maby someone was eating a fig and decided to throw it there because there has been countless times this has happened here at my house, but we just cut them off and throw them away, but now I like fig trees and I want to try to take this one and plant it, HOPEFULLY ITS NOT STERILE.

This has taken place in the city of norwalk CA, very very close to Los Angeles. But let me just say I never expected a fig tree to grow in that little crack. I wonder what will happen if I leave it ther.

Here in the east we have boring things like dandelions and plantain for weeds, you have figs LOL

Don't be too jealous.  Thing is, on west-coast, a lot of those seedlings are not 'common' type figs and do not produce edible fruit.  May as well be a dandelion in my opinion.

Do they have the fig wasp there?

Hey don't knock dandelions. They're great as a salad or in soup. Just not in your lawn.

My birds love dandelions too!  (I do not).

It's Must be a Italian thing. We actually use to throw seeds on the ground near the road and then pick them about 8 weeks later. They were a non-flowering type.

Today I took The biggest of the two sprouts out, and to my surprise there was a thick root way at the bottom along with many more, there must have been a fig tre here a long time ago I planted the small fig tree in some compost with perlight, and watered it, it looked sad but it had two roots the size of my index finger so I think it will survive, not shure though.

I feed the dandelions to my tortoises, but I also purchase the powdered root and make tea for me. Tried the leaves in a mixed salad, but they are a bit bitter for me. Good luck with your fig sprouts, let us know how they do.
