2 Rare Breed Cuttings to go...

I was blessed with the opportunity to trim several Unique Fig Trees this winter.
Few Premium cuttings have been set aside for auction later , maybe on eBay or even at a private auction sometime in future. The rest I can distribute, for our Forum Members, for a fixed package deal.
$20+s/h=Total $25.
PayPal only please
US only.
There will be 2 cuttings of each variety with minimum 3 nodes each to insure success of rooting.
I am doing this for few reasons, one- to make sure the variety survives and flourishes in every state and the other to help me develop the LAFF further. It's not easy to support this hobby, I come to realize...:)

1- Melanzana Calabrese AKA "Venice Beach Fig" that was recently verified by several experienced Fig Collectors from, France, Italy and US, to be true to the name.
 Unk. Venice Beach Fig...WOW.
The mother tree is owned by a very famous Italian celebrity, who choses to remain private for now :)
This is a variety that grown slow and it's used to being in mountainous elevations and sea, even salty environments. I have tasted the fruit and was nothing of any fig that I had tasted before.

2-The "Mother-in-law Fig"
The uniqueness of this fig comes from the story itself, which you can read form the thread attached. The MotherInLaw's Fig.
The taste is very sweet with gentle hint of figgie aroma, the sirupy pulp will put you to shock every time you take a bite out of it.
Several fig collectors suggest that it is offspring of Greek Type figs due to the looks of the skin and overall texture and taste.

This will be one of a kind offer so please don't hesitate attaining it. It may not repeat again.

**Caprification is not required but always improves the quality of any fig.

"1- Melanzana Calabrese AKA "Venice Beach Fig" that was recently verified by several experienced Fig Collectors from, France, Italy and US, to be true to the name. " Aaron, why this rare figs not checked in my garden? Waiting a few cuttings for testing.

Vladik, I wish I had a way to send them to you :)

...cuttings are washed with hot water, dried and both ends are dipped in melted Paraffin to protect them from dehydration. Then're going to the post office and send. It's simple.

Aaron, I have no wish to start a fight, for starters.

As per your previous statements: "It would be irresponsible from any body to start selling cuttings from a plant they haven't seen fruit of yet. If I were to list anything, I would list the source of my mother tree, the picture of my mother tree including the leaves, ripe fruit, and every extra information possible to help the buyer give confidence in investing in the cutting or the plant. I think it's only fair to expect these things from the seller."  source: http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/italian-258-on-ebay-7209032 Post #22.

We don't know who your experts are who ID'd the first fig. It would be best to post leaf samples and all relevant info to let potential buyers decide for themselves, because as far as I'm concerned both are unknowns selling for $10/cutting.

Maybe you have the real thing, maybe not. But please provide all info as you have previously declared you would provide, especially if claiming to have a known variety. It is only fair.

Have a nice weekend.

PS: Just for fun, see posts #13 and #16 linked above: "what would be someone's reaction if they see me list something on eBay (God forbid! LOL) I have never sold anything on eBay in my life." and "I don't think you guys will see me selling on eBay for a long time to come...just the thought gives me the cramps down there...LOL"

6 weeks sure makes a difference.

Thank you,

Thanks for including the links to the previous threads about both varieties.

Looking forward to seeing how they do in Eastern MA.

Hi Victor, just PM me :)

got mine in thanks again aaron . always sends great cuttings

Welcome guys...few more left

Aaron,

So to be clear you are taking cuttings off of random trees that you do not own,  trees that are growing in the wild or on other peoples property in LA, figs that may need the wasp to produce fruit and then selling them for premium money?    Really?   Trees that you claim have been identified by unknown, unnamed "experts" that very well could not exist?  Lets face it you have been, well,  I will be kind and say less than truthful in the past.

Is this like your sale a couple weeks ago when you said you just wanted a donation to cover the cost of mailing the cuttings,  then extorted $50-$100 per person, again for cuttings of plants growing in the wild?   I have no problem with you selling things, I sell cuttings and trees but at least they are cuttings from trees I OWN and not random trees I rename.

Just a few short months ago you did not even know what a fig wasp was now you have a legion of international experts ID'ing your plants???  Who are these experts?    If it turns out to not be Melanzana Calabrese will you refund the cost of the cuttings?

I, too, want to know who these experts are. We don't even have a leaf picture to see.

Hello,
The Melanzana Calabrese (Eggplant Calabrese) that Aaron mentions, grows in Calabria, Italy. I found three sources that identify this fig at ficuscarica.com and another source in Italy which I lost when my computor crashed last year. And the other source is my Italian friend which visited his home town in Cosenza,  Calabria Italy three years ago.

Calabria ,Fig wasp present
Los Angeles Fig,wasp present

Ohio,New Jersey,fig wasp not present!

so, anyway :)

I think the question here is, can I have the fig I see in the picture, YES- if it's still available, NO if they are all gone,
there are only 2 packages left.
you are all welcome.

As a seller, you have to be able to provide photos of the mature leaves. 'So anyway' isn't a mature way to handle this.....

Navid.

Kelby,
which variety did you want to see the leaves of?
M.C, aka U.Venice Beach fig pictures have leaves...check the thread attached.

But The MotherInLaw I don't have leave pictures but in several weeks I am sure I could provide...since the tree is in our family.
Although 3 of mines in 1Gallon are already awakening...the mother tree is still dormant.

To who ever else is doubting my honesty... I am putting my name on them, that's a burden enough. So, please, if you are not comfortable with it, don't order it and don't soil the thread, show curtesy.

Hello Herman,
I have seen a few small wasps on my fig every year here in Northern Ohio. They looked like the fig wasp from pictures I have seen on the figs4fun forum.

I see you have leaf pictures on the other thread, so I apologize for that. However there is no proof your Venice Beach UNK is what you claim. People are buying this without evidence. Last thing we need is more willy nilly fig naming. You have been caught insulting, lying and threatening before, so your name isn't much to me.

Phil Kobal:
Fig wasps in Ohio:That is big news,no doubt!
I also seen wasps on my fig trees leaves, but they are just miniature wild wasps naturally living in NJ and north east.
They have nothing to do with the pollination of fig trees, trust me.

Kelby,
The time will show and hopefully some day you will learn to trust even me :)
Thanks for showing humbleness and apologizing, it meant a lot and shows how big of a person you are.

Herman,
No doubt in my mind that you are more knowledgable than most members, nevertheless me.
Having said that, we still are in learning process of Wasp survival patterns in US.
Wasp colonies exist in very harsh climates such Ukraine and Armenia and Azerbaijan and Turkey were there are full four seasons...what's the secret of their survival? We don't know YET :)
It surely is a very interesting and equally very important issue for all of us fig collectors/growers.
