Fig season is fleeting, so get ‘em while you can. There will be plenty of time for this in the fall.

That sounds like it's worth the clogged arteries!  ;)

Excellent post and thank you for sharing the link. I think I'll give the chocolate covered ones a try.

Thanks for this post! It's saved to my favs.

Ok, so now I am swooning. You're going to have to pick me up off the floor.

I didn't realize there was any way but pick and eat.

Here's another page of fig recipe ideas. Scroll down to find pics and links. Wish I had more figs to harvest than I do this year.

Most of the recipes seem rather complex, but the fig tart with cinnamon ice cream is very appealing.

Good Grief Gina,
I'm gaining weight just looking at those dishes. YUM! The one with the roasted chicken was kind of funny.
Thank you very much for the links.

The more things I try, the more I realize I like fresh off the tree, cooled down a bit if they're hot, the best.

Italian friend at work used to bring the chocolate covered figs to share with me before i retired.
According to him his sister would cut a small slice on side and stick an almond in there and roast them in oven at some point they were dipped in chocolate .
They were delicious.

Haven't tried cooling them, but fresh seems best so far. But then I don't have an excess yet to experiment with - which is a goal. :)

Made by others, I've had fig pizza. It was good, simply because it was pizza with cheese, not because of the figs (which were store-bought).

I did have an appetizer last week at someone's house that was very good. Even using infamous brown turkeys. They were sliced in quarters and had a dollop of gorgonzola and pesto on each wedge. Very simple and very good. With a really tasty fig as substrate, it would be even better.
