Thanks for all the good wishes.
Kerry my soil is what they call hard pan a clay type soil. I just dug a big hole and filled with cow compost mixed with pine bark small nickel size bark added a few pounds of lime and fertilizer 10-10-10. The cow comp was the cheap bag stuff at HD and bark from Walmart. This is a 3 yr old tree in ground for 2nd season.
Gene I hope yours does well. I should have 2-3 more months of growing at least unless we get an early frost again in Dec.
Jason, all is well. You are more than welcome to dig out a sucker next time you visit ;). I had this cut back if you remember to 2 main trunks and pruned it real hard last year down to about 3 ft. I just neglected it and it bushed out. I will cut it back again when dormant as I don't really fret about the breba.
All my potted trees are or were infected with scale so I'm going to go in ground with a few of my favorites. No scale on this one
Martin hope all is well. The VDB and RDB will go in ground. I didn't get fruit from the VDB as it got some type of fungus but the RDB gave me a few nice fruits which were great. I would have to agree with a long growing season some varieties will be ever bearing in a sense.
