32 oz containers 3/$1.00 at Dollar Tree

I found 32 oz containers at Dollar Tree. They are in a 3-pack for $1.00 and they have a lid too! They are clear so roots can be seen. Can't upload right now but will when I have my SD card.

SureFresh large round containers 32 oz.

Thanks I have been looking for these everywhere.  Hope the Canada store carries these cups.

The ones from Dollar Tree are not as sturdy as those you linked to. My guess is that these are more comparable:

I usually stop at our local deli every year and buy them there. The price last year was .25 each including the lid.

I get the dollar tree ones but they are somewhat flimsy compared to one I got on ebay. The ones on ebay have gone up in price http://www.ebay.com/itm/32-oz-Ounce-Round-Deli-Container-and-Lids-25-Sets-Clear-Plastic-Food-Cups-/151068967013?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item232c698065

The ones from the DS have worked just fine and I have been doing the split container in another contain with them and they are much easier to cut..

Unfortunately in Canada DS doesn't carry them.

I found a restaurant supplier that sells 32 oz deli containers with lids 500 in a package.  I don't need that many;

If anyone in Canada wants these I can buy them and then distribute around for a share of the cost.  I could probably use no more than 100.

I have mentioned this before, but will do so for our new members. You can get those clear 32,26 and 16 oz cups, for free from your local Starbucks stores. Just tell them, you need them to propagate fig cuttings. That's all.

Navid.

Wow, I never knew that! Thanks for the tip Navid. I have a friend who works there so I will ask her.

Wish I knew this before.  I was in starbucks last month and asked if they would sell some cups to me but they said they don't sell them.
Next time I am there I will ask again and mention growing fig trees in them.

A source for the deli style containers is your local automotive body shop.  The shops use them for mixing paint, primer, and clear coat.  When the body shops order paint, the paint shops send a box with extra stirring sticks, filters and containers.  Usually it is much more than the shop will use on the job.  Normally, you will see the mechanics storing nuts, bolts, small parts, etc. in them or drinking their soda out from them.

I received a tree growing in a clear container.  One issue I have is the algae growth due to the root zone being exposed to light.  The drainage from the bottom runs green.  One can get the clear (unused) container for housing the tree and an opaque (used) one as a sleeve to block the light from the root zone.
