this is first year i'm doing large number cuttings (i know it's not large compare to others). right now i have 9 different variety going, 5 in 1 gal and 4 in cups.

so i do not have... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? here are two.. make that three, that i'm still looking for.

1. Col de Dame Gris <--- possible incoming cutting in fall.
2. Paradiso Nero <--- possible incomingcutting  in fall.
3. St. Rita <--- possible incoming cuttings in fall.  

i have CdDB (UCD) in 1 gal pots. have CdBN coming in.. so need Gris to complete the set.

i have Paradiso Gene going on 3rd yr, and i might have Paradiso Dusan (Bronze) coming in. so need Paradiso Nero to complete the set.

not sure why i want St. Rita.. just that i heard it's better than VdB. want to taste it for myself. my VdB is to die for.. really..

I can't even begin to wrap my head around that question yet and before I post my list I want to express my gratitude for all the kindness and generosity of the many members that have sent me cuttings. I'm hoping before I'm through that some will survive to be planted in the ground.

Ok here goes. My list will be a little diffferent than most.

1. A black fig - Mission? I may have one (black that is) if they live long enough.
2. A white fig
3. That fig that everyone says taste like the perfect fig.
4. A good drying fig
5. A varigated fig - Do they have those?
6. Whatever fig it is that y'all want cuttings of.

Yep, and it's supposed to taste quite good too. Some days I want it, other days I know the stripes would bother me. So for now it's off the list (see my sig line below.). :)

I would like to give a big THANX to all of the forum members, Who have been so generous in gifting me some of their figs since I joined this forum back in Jan of this year.  And it being Memorial Day I would like to thank all of my fellow VETERANS for their service and sacrifice.  

For now, whatever fig was mentioned in the last F4F thread, especially if it's dark and there are pictures.  :)

Plus those in my sig line.

Which keeps changing.

Celts new list

I thought the Sal's Corleone cuttings I recently received from a kind forum member and the Hardy Chicago I'm currently trading for completed my list, but the beautiful Panache pictures I saw earlier today convinced me otherwise. I'd also love to have a variety from the Afghanistan region, but they seem hard to come by.

I've only been here a couple of months... hope it's not bad form for me to post here... I've found lots of folks here to be helpful and friendly (and obviously a ton of expertise).  I've been learning a lot from you folks!  Here's my wish list:

I first became a fig enthusiast after tasting a really awesome green fig, but never figured out what kind of fig it was or where it came from.  That's what started my quest to find and grow this fig.  Then, joining this forum I think this year, I can't believe all the other fig nuts here which is making my obsession even worse.  I'm even recently tried to get some friends to grow figs who probably think I'm crazy and turned down the offer.  I think there is actually something in figs that when eaten, turns you into a fig nut.  I'm highly influenced by all the great descriptions I've been reading, so my list would include:

When I ate my first figs fresh off the tree I could hardly believe the taste. Oh yes there is a substance in them that makes you crazy 

Celt, it could be Sicillian Blk too. Unfortunately there are many Italian Blk or Blk Italian figs. Anyway, I do not mind trialing something yummie and I am sure between here & Toronto we have huge migrant communities from middle east & Europe. Vancouver has so many fig trees & some of these trees are loaded with figs. Fig trees is a common neighbourhood sight. In fact last week I stopped by at an ethnic lady's house where I saw two medium size fig trees that were fully laden with figs. She had no idea what they are apart from green skin & deep red interior. They could be Desert King too. I am welcome to sample them in late July or early August. I will. If it is something different, I will air layer them.

Going by the sight of these 2 trees, she seemed to have a good pruning method like what the Japanese does -- pruning to the main limbs. She prune the trees back to 2 or 3 main trunks.

I'm still looking for a Noire de Barbentane.  Obviously, it's not a great season for cuttings.  But I would be very grateful to anybody that could steer me in the direction of NdB.  Thanks, and happy growing!

I have one but I'm another year away from taking any cuttings from it.
This year I stopped most of my cutting. Letting these little trees grow a bit.

Look me up then if you haven't found anything.

I've been spending some time compiling my wish list - unfortunately I have more then 6!!!  And just 6 short months ago  I only wanted one lol Oh well things change!!

Of course when I started my list I was so eager to get the names down but have forgotten why I put those names on the list - Oh yeah, the dangers of doing this in the middle of the night.
