I'll get them added later today/tonight :)

GreenFin,
Would you mind if I posted the  information for your fig trees on a Fruit Tree forum that I am a member of in Phoenix? About 600+ members on there.

Sure, Jeannine, that would be fine, thanks.  This $7 special offer was originally intended just for the fig collector community, but the collectors have pretty much already picked through and gotten what they want, so I'm fine with other folks scooping up what's left.

Raise the price first!  :)

Well i was thinking of making a 2nd order. I just don't have that much room. i would like to try some for a year and see how the figs work for me. And then add more if needed!
How is this working for you? Do you plan to do this next year? Will you offer cutting again too? Your cuttings were excellent.
If you're not going to do this next year, I may just order more right now. Still some I want to try are not sold out. Mostly cold hardy types.

I'll offer cuttings again next year and do it as a fundraiser of some sort (10% to f4ff?).

I probably won't do another $7 tree project for 2017, but you'll be able to get them for $9-$15 on my '2017 Fig Trees' page.

James,

Thanks for the info and thanks for doing this! Most awesome about 2017! Very cool. I'm going to wait though, most rare types don't work here, so I don't want them. I'm in a short season area. I will try some longer types for fun, but Black Maderia and such make little sense to grow here. I'll make an order for 2017 once I have my 2016 order. Oh a question what exactly is Rob's Genovese Nero Not. Is it Robs? Or NOT! As modern use of "not" suggest it is not Rob's but something else.

Being new to fig tree collecting I welcome the generousity offered by James to obtain some rooted fig trees as I have a limited amount of funds.  I have had 3 or 4 fig trees for over 20 years but could not expand, now I can Thanks, James.

James - with the recent pics and success it seems you have with this awesome new method. Do you think it looks like you might be ahead of schedule on some of the plants? Obviously you probably have a cap on space in those pools and when you can introduce the new varieties. Love the progress pics , cant wait to see how things look in a few weeks.

Hi Matt,

I would say some plants are out in front, and that the overall project is more or less on schedule.  The plants that are the furthest along are the leftover cuttings from my outdoor in-ground trees for the $2 cutting sale.  That's why you see so many Italian Honey, Conadria, Strawberry Verte, LSU Tiger, etc in these early pics; those are the ones that would be ready for spring delivery, so the only orders that will get shipped in the early spring are the ones that are entirely composed of those varieties.  The vast majority of orders involve varieties that won't be ready until summer, so they won't ship out early.

Most of them, yes, but the early wakers of some of the other varieties are mixed in.  The big majority of those other more notable varieties (Black Madeira, CdD's, etc) have been going into humidity bins last week and this week, and a bunch more are getting loaded into cloners this week.

James, thanks again, for all that you are doing!

I may have heard through the fig tree, of an effort that fell through for you to obtain Native de Argentile...  can I pitch in a little bit to help out in that regard?

That would be great, thanks for the nice offer :)  I could indeed make use of some extra NdA cuttings, and would be happy to send you some money for them.  I'll pm you about it.

There are a few others like NdA that I'd like to get some extras of, and there are also a lot of unlisted varieties that people had requested.  Maybe I should post all those varieties here in this thread to see if anybody has extra cuttings they'd like to pitch in?

Am very new to figs and also very confused as to which will do good in my zone Z6 SE mi.   Can someone at a quick glance of what is still available on his list point me in the right direction.   I would prefer the more rare varieties. Thanks in advance.

Hi Dale, are you going to grow them in-ground or in pots?  If you're growing them in-ground, these should produce well for you:

Malta Black
Black Bethlehem
Marseilles Black
Improved Celeste

I will be growing in pots for at least a few years.

Here are some pics of the indoor rooting that has recently gotten underway.  There are around 400 fig cuttings rooting in these humidity bins, and another 96 in the cloner in the bottom pic:

It won't be long before these will be rooted and ready to move into the greenhouses, and then more cuttings will get loaded up into the bins and cloners, and so on :)

What type of cloner is that you are using in the bottom pic?

It's a Turbo Klone T96.

BTW, in response to your earlier question, you'll have a lot more options since you're growing in pots.  One that I'd make sure and grow is Violette de Bordeaux or one of its close relatives (like Vista or Petite Negri), they're extremely good, and very productive.

James, you have done an Outstanding job so far! Congrats!

Yes so cool to see the process! What an operation. I am really looking forward to the trees from this really generous project! Go figs!

I love seeing the progress!

Wish I had seen this post earlier! I just put an order for 2017, long wait!

Greenfin: You are amazing!  It takes a ton of effort to do this and you are really pulling it off!  I wish I could buy more from you but I would have to live alone somewhere in the hills...by the way, is that a picture of your cuttings in your living room?
