$7 fig trees for spring/summer delivery, around 150+ varieties

James,

Is the Zingerella you have the Mt. Etna type, or the Richard Watts version?

Here are some of the figs that are currently floating in wading pools:

Here are some rooted cuttings that are growing in a greenhouse area that is being converted to shelving.  The shelves will hold propagation troughs that should be able to hold around 2,000 trees.  The lumber has been painted, now it's time to build.

Here are some of the air-layers I've done recently.  Many of their leaves got crispy and fell off, but the trees are recovering nicely.  When I do air-layers in the future, I'll trim more of the leaves ahead of time and provide better shading to make the transition easier for the trees.

Here are some pictures showing the progress in the fig orchard.  The frames are all finished now, so we'll start covering them with greenhouse plastic this week.

Here's a pic of some figs from today.  The Hardy Chicago figs were good, and the Black Madeira was great.  I ate a few Improved Celeste today, too, but they don't get very sweet in our cool weather at this time of year.  I did have a good Florea, though.

And this is Figlet, our new kitten.

I was working in the fig orchard about 2-3 weeks ago when I heard a baby animal crying, and saw it stranded out in the intersection of the nearby highway. A passerby stopped his car and ran out to pick up the kitten, which was trying to drag itself with its front legs, unable to move its hips or hind legs. I went around our fence and met the guy at the side of the road. He said he couldn't take it home, and I said I would. So my family took her in and nursed her back to health, and now after just a few weeks she is healthy, happy, and active, with full use of all of her legs and no lingering ill effects :) :)  She loves to follow us everywhere we walk now, almost like a dog.  She's an awesome little cat!

WOW! James, what some beautiful plants! You got her going on! Good Job! : ).....also cute kitty.

James, Figlet is fortunate to have such a wonderful home.  She looks adorable, keep us posted on her.  She can be your rodent control supervisor.  Glad things are progressing.

Looking great James! Looking forward to receiving some trees from your orchard. That kitty will become your best fig friend in the long run. You will see what I mean. Thank you for the update.

That is one impressive set up your have James. I just put in an order and after reading your posts, I definitely am one of the people who ordered the plants that don't root well. Keep plugging away, you have a great looking business.

James -

Any idea when the rest of the 2016 trees will be shipped out?

Thanks!

James

Happy to be a "minor investor" in this project.  I like to see dreams come true for people that work at it as hard as you do, James.

Would also like to know when my order will get shipped? December? january?

To those who are asking when the orders will be shipped, James posted a couple times recently on here and his website addressing that question:

Any update on progress? Has anyone received their order yet?

Current tallies (approximate):

1,200 fig trees in 3gal pots
1,000 young fig trees in small containers
1,000 cuttings that are currently rooting in humidity bins
2,000 fresh cuttings in bags that are ready to start rooting
2,000 soon-to-be-cuttings about to be pruned from trees

...and 8 new tunnel greenhouses (so far) to hold everything:

Wow.. That's incredible!! How many trees have been ordered so far?

i see a ponte tresa container behind that fig you devoured...

Its a very impressive setup thats youve built up and will be a great business going forward with the capacity you have!

Is there an answer to the progress from a standpoint of how many orders have been shipped and perhaps when the rest of 2015 orders may ship?

James, so glad our orders will not be mailed during cold weather! Thanks! : )

It is showing a low of 2 tonight. Hope that those tunnels are warm enough.

Did I miss his response to Louneo? I'm trying to decide if ordering trees from him is a good idea. If ordered now will they be delivered in the spring or no? Is it just certain varieties that are behind?

I didnt see a reply to your original question which is why I posted asking.  I had ordered some trees in 2015 that I am currently still waiting on.

As for if it makes sense for you to place an order.  I think the 2016 / 2017 orders will go much smoother than the 2015 orders have.  He had a lot of infrastructure to build to be able to try to get everything going.  I think we all knew there would be growing pains from taking on such a big task.  All of the photos show you those growing pains and what he has been able to accomplish.  All of those things will make new orders from 2016 / 2017 a ton easier to fulfill than the first orders he got.  So even though I am still interested in an update on our 2015 orders... I would personally not have an issue ordering now for 2017.  I think most of the logistics will be worked out well for those orders.

Hi James
I've never seen anything like this before.
Best of luck my friend!!

They look great, and very impressive set up James.

Looks awesome, man thats a huge operation!! Looks like you have it down pat, thank you for letting us all benifit from that green thumb youve got

Really impressive, James!

Has anyone gotten any part of their order yet?
