$7 fig trees for spring/summer delivery, around 150+ varieties

rafaelissimmo, I do think willy owns a forum to defend himself, I think he already did...he does not need a nice lawyer (oxymoron) to defend him...and he is not the nicest to defend...never believe in somebody who licks his spit

Lebmark you appear to have lost your manners somewhere so perhaps you need someone to remind you of them...whatever your problem is, I don't really care, this thread is supposed to be about figs and not about anything personal, there are plenty of things personal to you I could mention but I will not as that is not my style. If you have something you want to take up personally, you know where to find me. I will be waiting for you. In the meantime, take a midol and SHUT YOUR PIE-HOLE unless it is about figs or something I have mentioned here.

rafaelissimmo, I tried to take your advice, but I see you did not take your own Advice , so why should I, Please compare what I said to what you said and you as everybody else will realize who has no manners...I thought I was advising a friend not to be associated with people who do not respect their word , you an old timer you should remember the butcher table topic that he was going to donate the proceeds to the Forum, how he used it as Marketing Ploy for his craftsmanship, and then he changed his mind. People from the same feather flock together, but you do not take constructive criticism very well...maybe you do not think of me as a friend...one more final advice...I  always advice people to not Drink and drive but in your case I will go one step further and will advice Not to DRINK AND WRITE...

Lebmark,
Some people are so good at advising others and think their crap doesn't stink . They simply don't realise how their actions upsets other people who cares or thinks highly of them as a good friend. I would say just ignore such back stabbers and those who talk bad of you to others. They won't even hesitate to create a fake account just to humiliate others.

Thaifig
wow you all heart, people will think you have James interest at heart...it is classless what you are doing...no ethics what so ever...
Mark

Thaifig...

Imagine you are running a retail store, and your competitor have a person in your store telling your customers the store across the street have a better product...
you are not hiding the fact that you are A FIG MERCHANT...trying to dissuade customers from buying from James on his page ...again that is not KOSHER...and Again NOT NICE

ThaiFig,

I do not care what you say your reasons are, I care what are you are actually doing...you did not buy figs from James, but you always trying undermine his business and remind us or future customers that he did not deliver yet...

you know by now that people who bought Figs plants, most of them are sticking all the way...so you are working toward new customers not to buy from James...

so Do not give us the usual Crap that you mean well...you do not...

I hope you are not being compensated by Fig merchant from the states...to do his dirty Job

Thai fig,

I stand with LebMark on this matter.

But for the sake of the forum can we agree to wait until spring?

Then, if trees do not start shipping, you can gloat...untill then you are seen only as an interloper.

Ajarn,

<Some will agree I have a point.>

Or a couple.<G>But lately you've wandered into "flogging a dead horse"
territory. You've made your case, leave it in peace.

if that person only badmouths you, was he your friend to start with?

Doug

I don't know how different individuals define a friend. For me it's not that complicated . If me and you chat regularly on Facebook or Skype yes I will consider you as my friend or a Facebook or Skype friend or a friend who I have never met. Nowaydays couples meet each other on the internet. Like me replying to you now although I'm not obliged to, but I somehow care to do so. Now that's my way of thinking and I'm not forcing any individuals to consider me as a friend. Did I used to think highly of this person? YES. But why am I upset ? Because I felt betrayed and it really piss me off. I'm not gonna say any names or further details here . But I also like to add something . One shouldn't bark about morals when they don't know the meaning of it.
Cheers

We never chatted or anything.
You are just bringing alans drama back to the forum.
Please mind yer own, it has nothing to do with you
Drop the drama huh kkk?

My reply was to Lebmark not to you and I wasn't talking about Alan. I have access to more Fig varieties than you guys could ever dream of in Europe, so I don't need to bring any drama . I was just telling the truth. I personally don't know you, we never talked or never did any trade. Basically you just chimed in and asked questions . Are you talking on behalf of someone? So who is creating the drama ?.

I used common sense beings you copy n pasted my response.
I replied.

Doug

For crying out loud would you people please stop sniping at each other? The topic is the offer from James of $7 fig trees. His character has already been hashed out in this thread and it has gone both favorably and unfavorably. Any more about it from the same few people over and over is just repetitive and does nothing to add to the topic. On the contrary, it is dragging the forum down.

I have a few bucks in this and am hoping for the best.
I started with a very short variety list and kept it that way, never to be greedy.
I'm still in it for the long haul...
The one good thing that I personally will take from all this negativity is that
I know exactly who NOT to deal with in the future...

TEAM JAMES!!!

Here's a new area we've just built. These tables have enough room to hold 3,000 young fig plants, and the space under the tables is enough to hold 4,000+ cupped up figs in humidity bins. The plan is to run 2x4 boards across the top and hang grow lights from them. We have 50 humidity bins stacked up in our house eagerly waiting for this space.

We experienced a deep freeze about 3 weeks ago where we got down to around -6F, which caused the young trees and cuttings in this area to be frosted (the ones floating in the swimming pools were not frosted because of all that bottom heat and water vapor). At the time, we didn't have any more electrical capacity to heat with; we were already maxed out. So we hired an electrician who replaced our 100 Amp breaker box with a 200 Amp version and added some more outlets. Now we have the ability to heat this area and keep it well above frost even on the coldest nights. And on a positive note: the plants that were frosted have rebounded and pushed out new leaves, so it looks like they'll make a full recovery.

I wanted to point out a few varieties that I'm furthest behind on.  If you have a chance to get these varieties from elsewhere, you may want to do so, because I might not have them ready for you until the Fall.  I intend to buy a lot of cuttings from Harvey to help fill the gaps on my own production line, and because of that wildcard it's hard for me to say when certain varieties will and won't be ready.  But given how far behind I am on these varieties and how pricey some of them are, it's likely that I won't be able to make up enough ground during Harvey's sale to get these to you this spring.

Figo Preto
NdA/HdA (I have lost dozens of these--strong tops but no or weak roots)
Maltese Beauty
Bass' Favorite
There may be others but those are the ones that are the biggest problem.

There are also some varieties that are growing and reproducing well, but that are behind pace due to sheer quantity:  Black Madeira, Ponte Tresa, and Galicia Negra are the main ones that spring to mind.

I again want to apologize to the entire forum for all the stress and frustration that this project, and my far-from-perfect execution of it, has caused.  I continue to be 100% "all in" on this project, and remain fully committed to doing whatever it takes to make it a success, regardless of how much work or cost is required.

Things may look dark from the outside looking in, but here at ground zero there is a strong sense of excitement and optimism because of how well things are starting to go.  Things are really ramping up here, and with all the infrastructure improvements and added space, we should be able to handle it and keep everything growing at full speed regardless of the outside weather.

The double-layers of poly on the new tunnels were all inflated around the end of November, well before the deep cold arrived.

James,
Thanks for the update.  I appreciate your positive attitude in the face of adversity.  I don't believe I have remember one critical word in any of your posts.  That sort of spirit is what makes this forum a fun place to be.  As my football coach used to say "keep your chin up".

Excellent. Now we know what we suspected all along, that James is taking care of Business, literally. The little figs in tunnels are good shape to survive the winter.

Will cuttings be shipped as scheduled around February 1st?

James, are you going to add this part of your update to FigCuttings.com ?  I think the people who bought from your website that don't use this forum need to know this too.

If only we could combine the Figo Preto and Black Madeira orders into one group, since they are the same variety! ;)

Thanks for the update, James!

Not all of us agree with that sentiment... but that's a topic for another thread :)

This is the post I am referring to on James website.

Yeah, but without the peace!

*grin*

Can't wait til the trees I ordered show up. I'm willing to wait.

I wouldn't call it negative, I'd call it presenting the facts honestly.
