$7 fig trees for spring/summer delivery, around 150+ varieties

I emailed him (titled refund)asking for money back since it was past the agreed upon shipping time. No response after a week. I disputed the transactions a few days ago on PayPal. PayPal closed the dispute because it was more than 180 days since it was paid. I have remained silent through all of this but now I'm pissed. No updates. Still taking orders when he hasn't filled the orders from 2015 and 2016. May need to take this a step further.. Filing this into the theft category. Good luck to anyone else trying to get their money back.

That is without additional fertilizer, pruning, and not in a tunnel, from June to October, water stopped in September. So when I say it is not impossible I meant that, it is possible but hard for me to understand because I don't know the specifics. Unless some people succeed in getting James locked up and homeless he will be able to set the market price of BM and most other varieties within a short period of time. Many varieties would be much more affordable if there wasn't so much competition and psy-ops from the "figs are my retirement plan" side of the argument that has pushed many people away.

It is easy to be confident when you don't know what it is that you don't know. Figs will make a liar of all of us, those of you who don't believe it are already there.

Could you please answer one thing for me Lewi? Why did you say TC was not an option? It breaks my heart to see people here walling in and tearing down their fellow growers...

Sure, happy to answer.

TC requires a lab, equipment, and knowledge that neither I, nor James has...

As of 10:02 pm CST, GreenFin was last logged in on 03/22, he may have visited without logging in, to avoid pesky PM's.

I hope he has a BIG bottle of Ibuprofen for his pinkey toe, I hear the pain is worse than giving birth, or even a kidney stone. ;)

In the previous post I mentioned Agristarts Lewi, they do all of that and I checked, they do give sole propagation rights to the person who pays to initiate the culture with them. Maybe I ought to just send them one of each from my collection free and they can sell them and people won't lose their minds over the derned things.

I hope you get your money...

LebMark,

You have been on this thread long enough to know I was a big supporter of james. Only in the last month or so has the picture cleared for me...

This thread is here because James started the topic, James made us an offer, James has yet to deliver since starting his figcuttings dot com site.

AFAIK, that is, failed to deliver to anyone since that time.

It makes perfect sense to me that a plethora of people who feel cheated would sign up to vent, share experiances, and ask/offer advice.

How many people bought cuttings or trees from figcuttings dot com? Honestly we do not know the true number, but it is a LOT of people. Some may have purchased based on the support this forum gave him, and took it as a positive character referance.

In any case, as I see it, James promoted his business PUBLICLY here, on figs4fun. So why should people suffer in scilence when they cant get either their figs, or thier money back?

Yes, I know of Agristarts, and have some of thier figs.

I think you actually should look into it more, and you could propigate some of the most hardy, tasty, closed eye, rain resistant cultivars...you could make money, and do a lot of good.

Sorry James, you didn't get this sucker:

We have concluded our investigation into your case and have decided in your
favor.

We were able to recover $51.00 USD and this amount has been credited to

Well my order was in January of 2016, so I am fig out of luck.

The fig market has been just a little bit too volatile for my taste Lewi ;) Maybe the demand for Black Madeira is less than all of the others they have anyway, the varieties listed by Universities in their fact sheets are the ones most people are familiar with.

But if James could get the money, he could have them do it, it is possible. You brought it up.

Just want to remind people, like I did at the start of this thread- ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS fund your PayPal account with a credit card, NEVER WITH A BANK ACCOUNT!!! I just filed a dispute with my Discover card for my purchase from James dating back to 12/24/2015. With a credit card, even if your 180 dispute window with PayPal runs out, you can still dispute via your credit card! This has saved my bacon a number of times.

Could you please share how you do it?
Mine is passed 180days and unable to dispute.
And yes, i am fund my paypal account with a credit card.

Find out the date you paid and the amount, and call your credit card company (Chase, Discover, Barclay, etc.) the number should be on the back of your card. Call them and tell them you want to open a dispute. They'll be able to look the charge up on your account. It should be PayPal/GreenFin. Some companies allow you to do this process online, you can with Discover, but only within a certain amount of time, otherwise you have to call in.

Some CC companies are better than others in this area...I believe the Federally mandated window is 60 days...some do not apply this limitation.

Since my order was last Oct, and James ignored all e-mails and requests for refunds. I tried Pay Pal first. They said 'no' due to the length of time but suggested my credit card company can deduct money right from James' Pay Pal account.

Logging into my bank account online, I could've disputed the transaction online, but it was over 6 months. I called customer service. They explained they usually only dispute transactions within 120 days, except Greenfin's website stated the delivery date would be later. That extended the window of time allowing them to investigate. They opened a claim for me, and let me know although the investigation has not yet been resolved THEY REFUNDED MY MONEY BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT!

Its the first week of May. Has anyone received an order yet?

No communication at all yet.

Have you received any updates on your order?

Hello fellow fig collectors :)

If you are receiving this email, then fig trees are ready to be shipped to you this week!  In order to help delivery go smoothly, please respond with the following answers:

1) Is this a good time to ship to you?  (we need to make sure your weather is warm enough, that you won't be gone on vacation, etc)

2) What is your current shipping address?  (we need to make sure that the address on file is current and correct)

Thank you all for your patience on this propagation project!

Best regards,
James/GreenFin

M_Engr,

Since that time we have been updated on a broken pinky toe that has so hobbled James W Sperman, that he was ordered by the local Podiatrist ( who doubles as a shaman)  not to get out of bed, and sure as cookies not send us figs, that would be bad MoJo.

I think I have a picture of his Doctor:

I wonder if the trees are too big now for the original shipping plan.  At least that person wanted to wait until May.

I also ordered first day I thought, or at least around there.  I never got a notification like that.

LMAO!

I'm still waiting for my Ponte Tresa... I can't wait!!!!

I think James is trying, but he definitely got in over his head and miscalculated the time he would need.  I ordered cuttings from him before he offered the $7 little tree deal. He delivered on the cuttings and did a great job. He even sent me free cuttings when some failed, although I offered to pay. He did not have to do that.  So then I ordered trees the first time he offered them.  I think they are abut a year late from the original prospective delivery date.  Its not good, but I believe I will still get my trees. I look at it as just part of getting trees that would normally cost 10X what he requested for.  I would't be surprised if he waits until this winter to start fulfilling those orders.

I do believe though, that he should have stopped taking people's money for new obligations once he realized that he couldn't fulfill his current existing obligations in a timely fashion. I think that is deceptive and unfair to the consumer. Perhaps he overestimated the consumer's patience as well. In either event, I've got plenty of trees to keep me busy at this time so my patience has not been tested yet.

As I see it, the cuttings transaction was used to gain your confidence in him.  Period. Once you were seduced,
he set you up with the tree deal that you couldn't pass up. The cuttings weren't free; he was grooming you.
Hindsight is always 20-20.

I sincerely hope everyone gets their trees eventually (one way or another). James should then revert to
selling cuttings...AND NOTHING MORE!!

I added 1000 Pointe Teresa's to my cart on his site, 20 grand for that!

I don't think anyone has received any shipment yet. But has anyone beside rcantor received an email regarding their order being ready to ship out? Either before or after the broken toe incident?
