Thanks for the comparison.  I just sifted dust and fines out of a left over partial bag of MG perlite this morning.   I tossed out about a quarter of the bag as useless.  

AND...I was hacking that stuff up for hours afterwords.  (Is there such a thing as perlite poisening)?    :-(
