Anybody growing Ischia Green?

Looking good Nelson

It's a little beauty, Nelson! Thanks for the update.

Thank you Guys, I will post pics in a month or so to see the difference.  Interesting plant old growth the bark is almost white and so far no signs of fmv.

I rooted up 20 varieties this year and the dozen or so Ischia Greens that are now in one gallon pots were by far the strongest right off the block. Atreano caught up eventually, but IG's a super vigorous variety it seems.

I still wonder if Verte/IG/Strawberry Verte are the same tree.
Any opinions?
I'd love to trade one of my babies which are from Monticello for an unrelated Verte and a Strawberry Verte as the grass green figs are what I'm going to concentrate on.
Hopefully this isn't answered above and I missed it. My glasses are in the car and it's 5 am.

If you like white figs find yourself a n  Adriatic Jh and a Battaglia and then you are set.

Michael,

The short answer to your question is yes (as long as they are true to type). Their is a lot of mix-up with green figs with red pulps). Are you able to post pics of your trees and fruits?

Can't help myself! Picked these yesterday main crop figs from the parent tree. Average weight this year is 29 grams versus 19.5 last year. I REALLY recommend waiting until they are VERY ripe like some of the ones pictured. Incredible flavor! No crunchy seeds. Delicate/tender skin.

So good looking!

Very nice, Ruben. Looking forward to my tree following suit one of these years!

Thanks, guys!

Anyone else still out there?  Great thread here.. I'm looking to plant some figs here in the Phoenix area, so trying to learn from you all.

My second year green ischia just produced its first ripe fig today, 9/13.  I still have a hand full that are still small.  This makes it a very late fig for zone 7b/8 I would think.  It may be the age of the tree though, I dont know.  I do know it was a nice fig.

Bamafig: Young Fig trees ,produce ripe fruits late in the season, and every year fruits get ripe earlier, till the tree is 7 years old.
Only then, you will know when fruits get ripe on your specimen ,not now when tree is 2 years old.!

This is from my tree labeled Ischia.  Would this be a White Ischia?

Chapman did you buy that at Lowe's?? I bought one there labelled "ischia Fig" that produced the same fig as yours. Herman2 said mine was White Marseilles.

Tylerj, I bought my tree at Walmart in 2012.

Green Ischia is NOT supposed to produce here in the cool summer climate of W. WA. State.
But, temperatures the last 2-years have been abnormally hot with several record heat days!?!
My 12-year old GI gave off about 100-keepers last year into the end of October.  Green Ischia 001.JPG

Good for you! I bet you were delighted. This is a good fig. It produces for me in north central Ohio.
