Can anybody identify this ?

Very aggresive grower went from 2.5 to 7.5 feet all this summer .

Thanks.... John

John,

Not 100% sure but it looks like a Stella

Conadria or Atreano leaves don't resemble stella.

Atreano to me

looks like a 143-36 uc davis fig aka emerald strawberry, just my opinion
Im no expert just a fig head.

Geo

Leaf looks pretty much like my Conadria and so does it fig. Mine were more amber inside.

Look like 143x36

Both my Conadria and my 143-36 have leaves that match almost exactly.   I can't speak to the fruit, I haven't seen either fruit yet.

Thanks for the replies . After looking up both Conadria and 143-36 I am leaning more toward Conadria due to it's incredibly aggressive growth.

Thanks again all . .... John

You are lining the wrong way:Conadria is amber inside, and the fruit is smaller.

Well if you are that confident Herman , then 143-36 it is .

Thanks .. 1 more unknown now known .

Sorry to budge-in this late.

But before you 'fix' the name; may I ask you, what was your source
(aka., how did you acquire/find it)?

I should have posted this picture earlier but I couldn't find it. This is the inside of my Conadria showing the amber color.

Hey John, I agree with Gorgi on this one. Dont jump the gun just yet did you pick up that plant locally? If so what info on this fig do you have? Because both Conadria & 143-36 are hybrid figs from California not commonly found in Canada exept for a handfull of private collectors.

My conadria from Paradise nursery looks exactly like johns pic in his first post interior and exterior and leaves look exactly the same.

I picked up this plant in the spring as what I suspect was a first year air layer from Valleyview Gardens nursery in Scarborough . The only label on it was " late green " . They were selling 2 varieties which they propagate from a couple larger trees they have ( a green and a black ) .
They had no clue what variety the trees were but I was convinced on getting the green by an older Italian gentleman at the nursery who said he had the same tree and it was a very good fig .
Alan I also see a red colour flesh with just a bit of amber at the top and bottom in Gene's photo ( thanks Gene for pics ) .
Like I said in an earlier post , to me it more resembles Conadria . But I have red/green colorblindness and cannot always trust my conclusions .

Thanks for everyones input .... John

John, here are pictures of a very ripe Conadria that I protected with fig armor to keep the rats and birds off of it. What do you think now.

Gene is your Conadria from Paradise nursery? It looks just like mine.

John, yours looks exactly like my 143-36....fast grower, big green leaves, very large figs. Gene, I don't think yours is Conadria. Conadria has amber pulp. Yours might be Atreano. My opinion....

Rob, my Conadria is from Almost Eden. Dennis you describe my tree to a "T", fast grower, large leaves and the earlier ones picked in June had amber pulp. I also have an Atreano but it didn't have figs this year. It's in a pot an hasn't grown very much and the leaves are not oversized. Of course in the ground will make a big difference. Perhaps the three are related, the Conadria, the Atreano, and the 143-36.

Gene
Great photos . I think mine and yours look identical . Mine also has very aggressive growth. Are you confident yours is Conadria ?

John, for now I going with what John Mcmillion of Almost Eden called it. I have no other to compare it to unless someone here has a more definite comparison.

Ditto to what Gene said.  I've got 4 Atreanos, all are different strains.   I got 3 or 4 134-36s in pots.  They are my fastest growing tree in pots except for Dela Senyora and Col de Dame Gris.  Those 2 trees are taller than me and I'm 6' 2"!  They were tiny 6 months ago.  I got 3 Conadrias, one in the ground and stopped growing this year but others in pots are very fast growers too.  Overall, I think you have a great tree that produces nice figs.....it can only get better.  cheers,

Gene- that makes sense .
Dennis - you are right . In the end this tree makes very nice figs and that's what it's all about . And when someone asks for a cutting l will just tell them it's most like Conadria but could be 143-36 .

Thanks John
