Conadria

I have glowing reports(4) on this variant productivity, taste, good with rain and reliabilities. My own experience tells me it has met the test on productivity and taste. Since it is a young 3 year old out door tree planted in-ground, I am not able to confirm reliability, Visiting R.Watts some 4 years back he said this is his most reliable variant and he showed me his tree awesome productivity. There is a pic at F4F variety page on Richard's productive tree.

My tree currently have over 40 figs. Not sure whether breba crop is usually large. If it is, it will be a bonus for my zone. Perhaps someone could fill in this info. Maybe I should write Richard on its breba production.

I have two, two years old and they had about a dozen fruits each. This seems to confirm a generous breba crop. The birds love them, so they must be good figs!

Good to know! I only have a one year old I planted out this Spring. Maybe next year I'll get a taste of them.

Paully, I've had good luck with my Conadria. It grew like a wild man last year but after severe pruning it's behaving better this year. My breba were extra large and plentiful last year but since I pruned it so hard I will only have a few. The breba were my earliest fig last year, they were plentiful, and they were good, very sweet and somewhat tasty. Linda loved them. When the rains hit and I lost all my figs, the Conadria were among them, but then it wasn't only rain it was a monsoon. Good luck with yours

Breba:

Whoppers!

wow those are huge!  My conadria is a pretty large bush and has ~20 brebas and hundreds of new crop starting.  I had a couple of brebas about ripe, not sure what the last couple of days of large amounts of rain will do to them though.

I have third season Conadria and Paradiso growing in the ground side by side here in the Desert. I like them both equally well as far as taste texture goes. Both are also large closed eye figs. This is the first year they are producing well. At this time there are roughly 60-80 fruit on the Conadria and 100-120 fruit on the Paradiso. This while the Conadria is the larger of the two trees. To date I have not done any pinching or pruning so your mileage may vary. In another yard or with pruning the disparity in production may or may not reverse or come into parity. Such things are hard to say. All I can do is report my own experience. I'm pleased with both of them but I have to make room for Black Madeira Raspberry Latte and an unknown from FrozenJoe. If I have to pull one of them to make room it’s going to be the Conadria. Of course all will be well if my wife changes her mind about the three mango trees she wants planted in the Fall planting season.

Below are a few pictures showing my figs today. I can't complain on production. Taste, breba are more sweet than figgy but good. Last year the breba were very early and might have been my first fig of the season. By the time the main crop came in the monsoon had hit and the figs threw in the towel, at least I did. So I cannot really comment on the main crop. It's hard to remember two years back but I think that I liked the breba better than main crop, or it just might have been that the breba were the first of the season and by the time the main crop ripened, I had other much better tasting figs like Celeste and Cajun Gold.

Cluster of figs

Several clusters

Cluster of breba

Gene, very nice looking plants and figs. I have a baby plant a couple years away from that probably.

Thanks Mike, it's one of the healthiest of my bunch.

You guys are giving me hope for my little Conadria.  Great photos Gene.

Gene, my weather is similar to yours. How does it do in the hot and humid? I know about the monsoon.

I remember well the superb taste of Alma fig roll-up from FMD. If Conadria produces well, time to learn
how to do the roll-up delicacy or fig jam. This is good news for my zone as the weather tends to cool down
fast when September comes around.

@ Gene -- ya, this variant grows really well. This is a better producer than my Longue d'Aout for brebas. I
would certainly welcome this variant given the fact it can be an outdoor tree. I did not give this variant any
winter protection. I left it in a pot 3 yrs ago & the roots are well entrenched now.

Gene your Conadria looks like its holding it's own. How many years has it been in the ground?

I had a breba fall off mine today. Not quite ripe, but peachy.

I bought my tree in 2009 as a 6 inch plant in a 4 inch pot. I move it to a 1 gallon pot and it grew fast and I moved it to a 3 gallon pot. It stayed in that pot until Nov. 2010 when I planted it in the ground. 2011 it grew fast and large to around 5 foot and had many figs but they were mediocre. 2012 it really put on some more size and figs. The breba were large, good and sweet, but the main crop was lost to the rain. Hoping for better this year.

Nick, that is a funny looking Conadria. I've seen them with amber or light red interior but never like yours. What is your source, mine came from Almost Eden Nursery.

Gene mine came from the nursery down the road. He said he got it from edible landscaping several years ago. I agree on the pulp, it is a very bright purple.

Gene, that "several clusters" photo is amazing.

Hands down, my Conadria is the most productive tree that I have. very pleased with it.

Navid.

Still picking them too early... this one today dented when I touched it, but apparently still not ripe enough.

The fig was still bright purple inside. It will be awesome if the fig continues to stay purple inside with the main crop!

I have 9 more brebas, hopefully by the last one i'll wait long enough to get a ripe one!

Nick

My Adriano variant looks like that(purplish) & it taste awful. I think something is not right.

Your purplish rimmed fig looks like mine!
Interesting....now I am very curious.

Francisco

Francisco that looks very similar, can you show a leaf picture? What do you believe yours to be?

oh great.. now i have to look for Conadria. my cutting died during the winter.. lol

Pete, I'd be happy to trade with you. Mine is a bit out of control with branches everywhere. I'll send you a PM.

Nick
