Dark Portuguese pictures taken today.
I have one of these at 1gal size right now and growing like a champion. It's a good grower. I have two more small chunky twigs from another fig friend that I started recently that are budding nicely, still no roots. I'm looking forward to it.
Dark Portugese is proving to be one of my most productive figs this year, very tasty too.You will like this one Jason.
Here are a few i tasted today.
Looks beautiful. thanks for sharing, guys.
I had one,,,,,for a brief moment.Oh well
Martin,
Frozen JoeYou can see the pictures in these threads .
No problem.
Martin,What is you secret that almost all of your figs have that nice deep red colored pulp?
Hi George ,that just how they come off the tree. I put figs on plate and take picture in yard . ; )
I transplanted my Dark Portugese to a 1 gallon pot and the Ronde DB. Both are growing like champs. The Grise is past history, but till late Autumn, I have my hands full keeping up with watering what has survived Dr. Woods transplanted his trees and they are also doing well . Drought has been hard on the all trees in our area and many figs are ripening early and smaller than normal and some are shedding leaves. except the trees behind our store; they are doing great.
Hi Sirlampsalot,Dr.Woods called me and we had a nice conversation.Im going to send you email i have another Grise for you .
Rafed,I may have one for you if you have none. We will see how this batch goes.
How big is this fig, I am used to a quarter being in the shot :) But say compared to Sals EL?
Brent lets see what tomorrow brings. Maybe i can get a sals and drk port together if its in the cards. If no sals i think the fig Gods mentioned a dark port will arrive tomorrow and i put a quarter in a shot for you .Heck Brent i think maybe i create a thread umi call it "Dark Portuguese Brents Quarter in a Shot Request" !check back tomorrow. ; )
Looks like the two cuttings I have bagged right now (3x8 bags) sent out roots - took about 14 days after being in the fridge for 6 months. I like how stable of a rooter this one is.
Jason back in winter of 2008-2009 this one rooted easily .Best luck with yours.
I just can't wait to eat the fruit. Your pictures look tasty!
