I hope you can make it.

Less some emergency, I should be there? I will be bringing (free) 1/2 dozen small/thin (~4") Sal(C) rootings still requiring some TLC for who does not have it and (really) wants it. Hoping that the old hat drawing of lots may be required...

Gorgi, That's a great idea! A drawing! Is that what you mean? Maybe we can each bring a cutting or 2 for a hat draw. C.J.

I haven't got a big response of people who will be coming. Please respond here if you're able to make it.
I have spoken with Bill, he'll have a table set up where we can put any items we bring. I can bring some cuttings along. We'll have a drawing for the different items.

This is rain or shine guys... Bill has a barn where he keeps his figs overwinter in case it is raining. I might be bringing samples of a fig jam with walnuts, Imported from Syria.

I have 6 different trees that are missing their label. I had the names, but my helper didn't put the labels on these trees when I repotted yesterday. Anyone interested in Mystery trees? They are in a gallon pot.

There's rain in the forcast for tomorrow, but there's a building where we can stay in that case. If you have something you can spare, we will have a table to set that material, We will have a drawing later. I will try and remember to bring some empty pots for, along with some fig trees for the drawing and for sale. Here's the schedule. 10:15-11:00 Arrival, meet and greet 11:00-11:40 Bill's presentation on growing figs in self watering containers, and Q&A for Bill. 11:40-12:00 Questions and answers sharing tips 12:00-12:30 We will have drawing. Win prizes, swapping fig materials. So far we have roughly about 10 interested people.

I havent been on the fig forums in a long time, George was nice enough to email me about this meet and will do my best to show up tomorrow with a few cuttings, nothing special unfortunately and they are unknowns....... One will be from my family tree (meaning my Dad planted it when I bought my home) and the other will be what I call Rocco Black, my uncle gave me the saplings a few yrs ago and they actually make sweet med-dark figs. Very similar to my family tree but the leaves look different.

It is raining this morning, We may get a break in the rain shortly. The good thing is we have a place to hide from the rain if we need to.
We will see you there.

Just came back, it was a good time. Thanks to those who drove hours to meet the rest of us.
Many brought plants and we raffled them out.
I hope to do this once again sometime.

Nice group of fig folks. And very generous with the cuttings and such. I had a great time talking figs, meeting with everyone and checking out Bill's incredible fig growing set up. It would be nice if we could continue this on some kind of regular basis. Thanks Bass for organizing this day and thanks Bill for holding it at your home. I am very happy with my new fig aqcuisitions and have my cuttings already in pots!!

+1 on Bill's fig orchard!!! Very nice set up and inspiring too! I've been joking about becoming a fig farmer in a few years when I retire to my wife for at least 10 yrs now, after seeing Bill's place I'm thinking more about it now. :D PS- for those who managed to snag up a few of my cuttings and since it's been so long since Ive posted on a fig forum, here's a link to some photo's if yall are curious at all on what you brought home with you.http://fortisi.zenfolio.com/p791476107

I enjoyed meeting with all of you that attended, specially mostly it being for the first time. Bill's method of growing figs is very unique. BTW, all that got any of my [raffled] fig starters, please note, that they were not hardened yet, and will need to be put outside in the shade for ~1-2 weeks. Thanks Paul for the Memos I fig. From what you told me and pic shown, it is a large, purple fig, originally from Greece.

So it's been a month and I cant help but wonder if anyone's having any luck with the cuttings I brought with me (fortisi and/or rocco)???? Unfortunately, the E.H. I had in the cup just died on me the other day, not sure why but I got a few cuttings from the meet as well which seem to be taking so we'll see how that works out. After the meet, I was encouraged and decided to bag root various cuttings that I had in my produce drawer, it's kind of odd.....my family variety and the rocco cuttings just seem to grow like weeds, my success rate with those two varieties have to be at least 90% survival. Kinda ticks me off I cant have that success with every other cutting I ever received. Oh well. Hope all is well with my figmates! ;)
