Free cuttings contest

Here's my update:
These are definitely no easy rooters. I have been trying both the bag method and direct sowing into cups with really well drained soil. 1 of the 5(in the bag of sphagnum) put out some small roots, which I potted. Fingers crossed. No other cuttings have put out roots. Will give them more time.

slingha,

I really hope your cuttings root, I want to see this tree live to see another life.

Speckled Candy Apple

Roman Summer

Aurum was the goddess of Jewels so I would name it that because it looks like a jewel.

Nice guesses... but the contest was over October of 2012. :)

Sunfire was apparently the name chosen.

Perhaps the original poster could edit the title of the thread.... :)

ha,ha it is an old post:-)

Did the winners ever get plants from their cuttings?

Tim no longer posts on this forum but I do know that he was able to root Sunfire. I also have a rooted start and gave one away as well. For me it was a very strong rooter and grower

I got a start from Barry and I had some figs this year, it is an excellent fig!
