All my figs have been exposed to  FMV,some have it, some don't. It doesn't seem to bother them so it doesn't bother me.

To those in the know, is this the best tasting fig of them all or are the Blacks Madeira or Ischia better?

I haven't tasted any of them but have them all and have read many posts about each. Depending on who you speak to, Black Madeira or Black Ischia would be considered the best tasting, however, Maltese Falcon ranks very high. And is a better grower since almost all of the Black Madeira and Black Ischia in this country is infected with fmv, some very badly. Maltese Falcon does not require as much heat to ripen as BM either, not sure about BI.

According to my experience Growing Ischia Black, from UCD,it does not require as much a longer Summer like Madeira Black.
Ity is a middle season ripening fig that will ripe just fine here in NJ ,if healthy ,FMV Free,so it can survive with old wood out of the Winter.
The infected one dies to soil line and then it will not ripe next Summer.
In some warmer Winter like last one it manages to keep older Wood that grew last year so it will ripe just fine.
Yes Maltese Falcon is very close in flavor and taste to those 2 mentioned above ,plus it has larger fruits.
