Put the soft top on the Figloo

For those who have not seen my previous posts ..

I live in Toronto Canada , zone 5.
Last fall I moved an older established tree , planted it in my yard and built a structure around it. I heated it with 3 regular light bulbs hooked up to a thermostat set to 34 f .
The tree never saw freezing temperatures this winter and has absolutely no damage at all .
A couple weeks ago I took the top off the structure and bent a couple plastic pipes from one corner to the other and created a domed roof which I covered with plastic . The figloo is now a greenhouse and will give the tree a head start on the season .
With the plastic top it is still alot cheaper to heat than a regular greenhouse. with the regular top used for winter it is less than 1 tenth the cost of a regular greenhouse .
The first photo is with the hardtop. The second is the softop. The third is from the inside looking up at the roof. The last two photos are some of the figs I have in my regular greenhouse ( found used on kijiji for $400 ).

I really admire all of the extra work you guys up north put into the protection of your figs trees so you can have fresh figs. Very nice setup......

Very nice job Jon.  Your GH look exactly like the mine except mine is outlined in green.  Mine cost $599.

Jon, what did you put down as your base and floor?  For my base, I used 4x4 pressure treated timber overlayed with 10mil plastic.  For my floor, I used  4 inches of gravel, sand, and 12 inch concrete pavers.  I think I spent around $500 bucks for the base and floor but it is well worth it!  You will enjoy your GH!

Thanks Dan.
I am sure it will be worth it in the end . Its is very rewarding to see the tree with dozens and dozens of buds swelling and opening up after all that effort.
Hey Dennis ,
The floor of the greenhouse is 4 inches of gravel then some limestone  screening then 10 mill plastic with a 2 inch hole in the centre of the greenhouse for drainage . Then I put 2 inch foam board (specific for floors) and the pavers on top. The foam insulates the floor and the stone does not lose the heat it gains in the day to the ground.
