Simple Re-size Picture

To increase or decrease picture size.

Open paint in Windows accessories

File - open - search for picture wanted and double click.

click on Image along the top - click on resize/ske  - in the pop up window resize % of Horizontal and Vertical the same amount and click OK  When it looks about 4x6 on the screen it will be small enough for forum to accept.

Good Luck!!

To add some more info on this -

Wait you're not done!!!  Click on File - save as - the I keep the same file name and add an "A" to it so I still have the original file size and now a smaller one for uploading to the forum.

Thanks for the tip JoAnn!  I just posted some pictures and used the cropping tool in viewer to reduce the size of the file. Gave the pictures an unnatural look without the framing. Next time I will try your suggestion.
Thank you.

been using picasa online. it's pretty simple and re-size without distorting the picture.

Didn't we just have this same conversation?  Here:

I guess this thread makes it easier to find as a reference though, i.e. right in the title, so good idea you started this thread Jo-Ann.  In the same spirit, just to tie a couple of threads together for reference, the link above also includes a pointer to still another thread with additional techniques for resizing.  There are lots of programs for manipulating images, with different computers / different software / different web-based image programs.  Have fun!

Edit 11/26/2012:
There are lots of threads on the site that have tips for resizing pictures... search on "resize picture" or "resize photo" or "reduce size picture" or other search terms... I can't link them all here :-).

Also, thanks Jo-Ann for fixing the title of your other thread (above) to remove the exclamation points... it's hard to link to threads that have some special characters in the subject title (e.g. exclamation points or parentheses).  Just for further reference on that point, there's a thread that explains how to edit the title of your own posting... ironically enough though I can't link it here because that thread also includes an exclamation point (sigh).  If you're looking for that, use search with the words "edit title advanced".  It's entitled:

Here's what happens when you try to link a topic whose subject includes certain special characters, as that one does:

Mike, I fixed the title in the other post - NO MORE EXPLANATION POINTS IN THE TITLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone, MichaelTuscon told me how to resize in another post - I new someone did, just forgot who, where and when;)

Pete, I got aggravated with photobucket, and not very interested in trying another - picassa. I still have to upload to another site, do the editing and then link and then............  I admit to being lazy with some things,  I don't work with a computer all day, I'm sure a lot of other people don't either.  It is one of the best, annoying tools I have;)  I know enough to be dangerous lol

I think most people are using MS Windows, and it is right there built in.

If anyone wants to add their tips and other sites for editing, please add it on this thread.

joann,

picasa doesn't need uploading :) but i hear you. some of these processes are rather frustrating.
