Hello All, Could anyone tell me when this years fig meet will be and also where the location is. I wanted to go last year and could not make plans for it because by the time I got word of it already had plans to go somewhere else. Kinda want a heads up. Did the search thing but couldn't find it. Thanks for any help.

Do you mean the Staten Island Fig Fest?  I think it might be this coming September 15th, but I cannot find any current notices for 2012.

Just got off the phone with a reporter who wrote an article for the "2nd-Annual Staten Island Fig Fest". 

For 2012:  "3rd-Annual, Staten Island Fig Fest" will take place at Midland Beach Park/Turtle Fountain, starting around 6:30 PM-until dark.  I was told there will be figs, plants, cuttings, exchanges, etc.  A place for fig-lovers to meet-and-greet.

Go to your original post, and hit "edit", then hit "advanced" and you will be able to change the title of the thread, then hit "save".  Done.

By the way, the reporter who gave me the above Fig Fest information, told me that this is a Public Park,so there may be a parking lot very near by, or even part of the park itself.  Maybe forum members who have already attended this event, will be able to add to this information.

Staten Island is not really "the big city".  You will be surprised.  There is parking right in front of the festival.  The festival is basically a bunch of mostly local people who show up with figs and different dishes comprised of figs.  The first 2 years (this is the third), there have been 2 people selling figs and a few others trading cuttings/trees.  I am sure that each year it will get larger and better.  See you there.
