What to do with unripe figs?

Hey all, just need some advice.  I have a tree that will be going to sleep very soon for the winter, but it still has a number of small-mid sized green figs on it that never got the chance that they deserved in life....*sniff*sniff*.

Should I leave them on?  Take them off?  Throw them at the raccoons that keep knocking over my garbage cans?  Bury them and say a few words?

No really, remove them or leave them on?  Or will it matter either way?  Advice?

mine seem to fall off naturally.

take them off and throw at the birds/tree rats eyeing your figs.

in Brazil, green figs are more valuable than ripe ones-  make amazing desert... boil them quickely in a cooper cleaned plan, and remove them very green putting them in a boiling sugar water to cook very slowly... it is super delicious.

There were one or two recipes for unripe fig preserves posted here recently. Basically boil them twice for five minutes each time, changing water and rinsing in between to get rid of the sap. Then boil in equal parts sugar and water with lemon juice and cloves until thick and can with slices of the lemon peel. We made a batch with the last of ours this weekend and is sure smelled good!

There's a recipe just like Aaron described on Bass's site.  http://www.treesofjoy.com/content/fig-recipes
