A cold hardy fig, Stella

Here she is, the winner of the Spring 2016 freeze.  It was 24 F according to our car and 26 F on the town bank thermometer.  This killed every green leaf on every other plant in my yard except for Black Jack, Green Ischia and Armenian (small eye var).  We've had at least half a dozen light frosts and a couple of heavy frosts in the 30 F range.  Stella had three breba figs also and dropped one but kept two through it all and they continue to grow.  She never lost a leaf, bud or tip.

Hey Charlie, Love them Stella Figs. They are a tuff tree! Hope you have a great growing season! Good Luck

Thanks Frank!  I drooled over your past Stella pics.  This year I'll get a taste!

Does anyone know how bad die back is for in ground Stella trees?  It would be nice to know the minimal continuous temp that Stellas can handle without tissue damage occurring.

I am also interested in the in ground hardiness of Stella!

I had no idea Stella was so cold hardy.. Next year I will throw one in the ground and see what happens.
