Hi James, Nelson
Thank you,
One particularity of the Quarteira fig is that its jellies make it very difficult to dry. It has a unique flavor which keeps in the palate and makes you to try another one..
it needs a lot of Sun!
Both Côtia and Quarteira shown, are from trees on dry ground... never been irrigated ! This also counts on the perfect maturing process as well as in the building up of sugars and aromas.
Nelson, your question on comparing Quarteira and Braçajote Branco..
Both are good figs but Quarteira taste, flavors etc.. are more intense, ...if I may say so, it has more body. Near a plate or a basket of figs, you can feel their unique scents, suggestive of various ripe fruits
Braçajote is a lighter fruit, shall I say, 'fresh' with its own fruity tastes
Quarteira was the preferred fig of my grand mother
