--- A family photo :)

My Tena and her Pumpkin are here with their family photo!

Enjoy!

P.S. They seem to benefit each other in some way (besides keeping each other a company). The pumpkin is definitely gets the excess of moisture that the fig wouldn't like.

What are the other plants that would be beneficial to figs when planted together?

Sophie and Soni,
Thank you for your "Like" !

I checked the forum for more info and it seems the marigolds planted with figs help to fight against the RKN, root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.).
From the Internet: marigold produces a substance called alpha-terthienyl, which can aid in the reduction of root-knot nematodes and other disease promoting organisms.
How effective they are and what quantity? I don't have any (knock on wood) but just curious..

I had some not so good looking cuttings this spring that I seriously thought about throwing away. Just couldn't do it so I poked them in a pot of ginger out back. They not only rooted but grew better than my other cuttings. So, ginger is good with them as long as the ginger rhyzome isn't on top of the fig.

I agree!

Thanks, Tami and Smaritza (and Happy Birthday !)

I found one more thing about marigolds. They
 repel aphids,
aphids could destroy fig tree leaves if they are in large numbers.

I ordered some strawberry seeds, will try them in the fig pots as well. The nutrient competition shouldn't be a worry.  The figs are fertilized and watered often, it is going to be enough for everybody. And the flowers will add some colors too!
