A few books that I ordered

I just bought a book called 'The plant propagator's bible' by Miranda Smith.  It seems like a good book, hits the basics and gives allot of detail.  It goes though each way to propagate a plant, 5 ways and subdivides each way into more detail.  One way is, obvious, cuttings and breaks it down into 12 different types of cuttings, from cane, greenwood, conifer to root.  Then under each type it lists different types of plants that can be taken with this type of cutting.
I like the book.  I consider myself one notch above a beginner as I have done air layers, divided plants and planted from seed.  It has a good section on grafting.  I would like to get into that.

My other book is 'The new fig booklet' by Ray Givan with Fred W Born.  Im sure most of us in here have that book.  I got that one about 2 months ago and use it as a good reference.

I was surprised with Amazon that they shipped my two books separately even though I had selected to ship them together.  The other book I ordered is a day behind in shipping and is called, 'The Reference Manual of Woody Plant Propagation: From Seed to Tissue Culture, Second Edition' by Michael A Dirr.  I hope that book is good.  Im thinking it will be more text book type.

Ill give a feed back of that book when I get it.

Any recommendations of other Fig or propagation books?

Bill, I have Cutting Propagation by John M. Dole and James L. Gibson and Plant Propagation by Alan Toogood. Both very good books.

I'm in the stone ages , i never thought to get any book years back.
I made a lot of mistakes by trial and error and learned from them , whats nice is the web has for me a ton of information about figs , culture, etc, etc.

For a long while i read and read when i first started out growing  fig plants years back and now personally have good sucess growing my plants, im fortunate to have a caring wife as she always puts up with my talk about the plants because she does not like figs. I had a grandmother when i was a child who gave me the garden bug in general along with fig growing many seasons back and that has played a huge part for me.

I see reading a book about them and gaining knowledge is a great way to learn about these plants which can be a lifelong passion for a lot of folks.
For a lot of the newer forum members remember once you have the bug there is no immunity shot for it and it will spread quickly into your yard .  ; )

'The Reference Manual of Woody Plant Propagation: From Seed to Tissue Culture, Second Edition' by Michael A Dirr, I just got this book in the mail.  I would not recommend it.  It is nothing more than a very dry reference for different types of plants.  It is very text book like.

I ordered Plants from test tubes, third edition. It should be here tomorrow.
I am hoping it is a good one.
