I just bought a book called 'The plant propagator's bible' by Miranda Smith. It seems like a good book, hits the basics and gives allot of detail. It goes though each way to propagate a plant, 5 ways and subdivides each way into more detail. One way is, obvious, cuttings and breaks it down into 12 different types of cuttings, from cane, greenwood, conifer to root. Then under each type it lists different types of plants that can be taken with this type of cutting.
I like the book. I consider myself one notch above a beginner as I have done air layers, divided plants and planted from seed. It has a good section on grafting. I would like to get into that.
My other book is 'The new fig booklet' by Ray Givan with Fred W Born. Im sure most of us in here have that book. I got that one about 2 months ago and use it as a good reference.
I was surprised with Amazon that they shipped my two books separately even though I had selected to ship them together. The other book I ordered is a day behind in shipping and is called, 'The Reference Manual of Woody Plant Propagation: From Seed to Tissue Culture, Second Edition' by Michael A Dirr. I hope that book is good. Im thinking it will be more text book type.
Ill give a feed back of that book when I get it.
Any recommendations of other Fig or propagation books?
