These are very large fruit. Average weight always well over 100 gram,  grown in pots.
Hope fellow Californians to show theirs soon

Does it requires pollination?

Thank you, Francisco!
As always, beautiful photos.

My Zidi is too young but hope to see the fruit next year.
The leaves are also large in size.

Yes, it does require pollination.

I should have fruit in the next 30 days.

hxp707,
yes,   it needs to be caprified . Otherwise no ripe figs.

Igor,

Zidi typical leaves are enormous,  their contour almost fitting inside a circle.
How old is your tree ?

Brian,
Do you grow in ground ?
IMO, this variety grown in ground and well looked after, makes fantastic figs.

They have Maple Sirup like interior as the inchario preto,

Francisco, i bet the weather was above 45c before picking .?

Most of all my trees are in pots. I have a few nice varieties in ground. I really like the leaves and the overall appearance of Zidi.

Very nice Francisco,I should get a taste this year on my second year plant.
Looks like it will be a while though.

Thank you.. fake predators may work for the initial 10 minutes.. then they rapidly realize what it is all about and keep feeding themselves.
If you have the right wind - strength an direction -aluminum streamers,  yes it helps but far from solving the problem .

Hi Eli
You right. If given sufficient time to ripen they become very juicy and the pulp changes to a sort of dark honey tones, like InchPreto

And for temperatures, yes they have been  very close to your figure.

If given a chance get it to ground on a coming opportunity
In your environment I woud not hesitate a second
It is senritive to particular pollinators. Do not respond similarly to any Caprifig.

Thank you Paul
This is a very nice and healthy young tree. IMO you may still have at least 2 or 3 weeks before they start getting volume and changing color.
Bear in mind that at this stage leaving the fruit on the tree may drastically slow the growth of the plant. This has been my own experience.
Good luck

Here is an interesting video clip from the Land said to be the origin of this cultivar,  showing various aspects of its culture.

Along the video you shall see their characteristic leaf shapes, fruit size and colors as well as the system  farmers hang the caprifigs on the branches.

Some of the first leaves on my rooting Ziti cutting were large, circular leaves, then a few three lobed. Now that it is in a five gallon pot, most of the new leaves are five lobed. The picture on the top is a month or two ago when it was in a one gallon pot. Last week I put it in the five gallon pot shown in the picture on the bottom against the bird bath. It's not one of my fastest growers, but not one of my slowest either. All the new up potted figs have been in full shade for the last week and today were moved to half day sun. Ziti was the only one that began to go limp, and I had to put it back in the shade again. It seems more delicate than the other figs.

Mara,

You have a very nice and healthy fig there.
IMO, if they go limp it's not as a result of being on direct sun only .... A large leaf total surface area will rapidly use the moisture stored in the media particularly if under the sun light,  cranking full metabolism and photosynthesis.  I would watch and irrigate as those leaves start limping. And to keep them happy getting full sun. Your objective at this stage shall be growth while climate helps and to harden slowly the main plant structure, preparing for dormancy

On baby figs in small pots this is exactly my visual alert check
In doubt, will bend the spine, and check the full weight of pot !
(after doing it hundreds of times you will be very sharp on deciding exactly when to irrigate)

Good luck with your Zidi

Beautiful fig Francisco!  I can't even imagine what it tastes like but I'll bet it knocks your sox off.

Also thanks for the video and all the info you have provided I am finally starting to understand the weird sex life of the fig.
But no chance of finding wasps with snow shoes for Canada so will make a point of travelling during fig harvest season.

The photo in the post 14 and 15 different color eye Fig. My opinion is different varieties and one of them Zidi.
