They look great, Ed. Which was your fav?

Negronne all the way.  Tomorrow I will post some pictures of vdb, negronne and petite aubique side by side.  Just waiting for the vdb to get properly ripe.

I've seen some say Negronne and Violette de Bordeaux are the same fig. Do you think they are different or the same? I suppose the same question is asked about many closely linked figs. I look forward to seeing your pictures.

From what I see, Negronne (but not Large Negronne) and VdB are actually the same, or so closely related as to not matter at all.  Petite Aubique is different, with somewhat smaller figs.  Petite Negri(a) is different with somewhat larger figs, and less sweet.  Vista, I'm not sure about, but I lump that one in with PN.

When I viewed the pics. I did so without reading the names of the figs.  I wondered why you included a Seckle pear in with the fig grouping.  After seeing the figs identified, I realized that the largest fig is the "Brooklyn/Angelo's Hand-Granade".

Nice photos...wish "taste-o-vision" was invented.

That's the truth!

LOL I thought it was a seckle pear too !! Love the "Brooklyn /Angelo's Hand - Grenade " name !! Is it sweet?

They sure do look great!  How big are your trees?  Are they in ground or pots?  If you have had them for several years or more, have they gotten better with age?

Yes Ed...what Jo-Ann said: (post # 9).   Details...details...please.

Scale of one thru ten....ten being the best...rate this fig combination-du-jour.

On this particular day Negronne was best, Hardy chicago and monstreuse 2nd, hand grenade, rdb, and marseilles vs all tied for 3rd.

Thats some good eats there.

This year the breba was better than the main crop in the case of the hand grenade fig so far. However last week with minimal rain all my main crop tasted considerably better. Negronne was also one of the best for me too.  Angelo Zone 7A NY
