A few on the tree

This is LSU Gold and much to my surprise one was ripe and ready to pick, the ones in the pic are just starting to swell. Very nice sweet flavor. I noticed that they don't hang on the tree like most other figs, very short neck they just kinda sit there. The other is Dark Portuguese, also nice and sweet and a tad richer. The plated figs are the DP, LSU Gold and the 2 small figs are Bisirri Dark which were actually the best tasting of today's pickings. All 3 of these trees are on the side of my house right next to each other.

Thanks for the pics BLB. How would you describe the taste of the Bisirri? I also have Dark Port. and curious how it differs in taste with Bisirri
 Thanks,

Peter, I am not the best for explaining different nuances of flavor, I just know what I like so with that in mind, I thought the Bisirri was a little richer and perhaps a tad sweeter than the Dark Portuguese, which was richer than the LSU Gold which was very sweet but maybe a little less figgy. Sorry that's the best I can do. I am much impressed with those who can detect strawberry or melon or some other such fruity taste and describe it so eloquently, guess they have a much more refined set of taste buds.

Barry, is the eye on the LSU Gold tight or open?  The lower fig in the picture looks a little open  the one above it looks tight as a drum from this angle.

Jo Ann,

It is open, but not terribly so and so far no problems
