A gentle SoCal sun, damn it ...

I had a Japanese take out on Wednesday where they give you small plastic dishes for the soy sauce. One of them fell onto my car seat and spent one day Thursday in the car parked outside.
Here is what I found Friday morning, that thing just melted !!

Are you sure those aren't Godzilla's contact lenses? ;)

I had a very similar experience this week here in sunny SoCal. I keep a plastic container next to the sink to collect fruit and veggie trimmings. Nothing special, just the black plastic bottom from a mushroom container from Costco. When I took out the stuff to toss in the new 'worm tower', I got distracted (probably by the nearby fig trees) and left the container sitting in the sun till the next day. Like yours, it flattened in the heat.

Hi,
At Easter time, try keeping chocolate inside a car even just for 10 minutes - even with only 10°C outside, but with a bit of sun, the car will make it melt.
One year, just the time to hide and call the kids, half of the chocolates where already melt - Greenhouse effect some call it - chocolates are always sold under plastic bags ...
For the same reason, if you buy a tree, don't do more shopping afterwards, rush to put her at her final place before she fries .

I'm glad it didn't stick to your seat Igor! That could have made for an uncomfortable ride!

i wonder what smells worse... week old coffee in the car or soy sauce :)

Soy Sauce!

Never had soy sauce for that long in my car but I had a number of soda cans exploding like popcorn.
That was a thing to see and smell ! Good it wasn’t a beer.

I had a friend who had a rodent die someplace in an old car. Rather than pay a mechanic to find the smelly thing, he always kept in the back of the car a big bag of used grounds from Starbucks to hide the smell. He said that worked pretty well.

As for cars getting hot, there are people who use them for dehydrators. Not as hot as solar cookers, but hot enough.

My worst car smell came from a package of wieners that accidentally fell behind the wheel area.  We couldn't figure out what it was for a week or two.  YIKES!  I finally went to the pet store and got some odor removing stuff.  It worked.   Funny, I never even missed those wieners.  Forgot I bought em.
