A Glass of Chianti and an Italian Honey Fig

I have quite a few figs on my Italian Honey (Peter's Honey), and the first one was ripe enough to pick this morning.  We decided to treat ourselves to a nice little glass of Chianti along with splitting the fig, thought you'd all enjoy the photos.  It was exactly as sweet a honey, no so "figgy", but absolutely sweet as can be, tender skin, a nice crunch, and delicious!

It's great hw it looks like the figs are inside the wine.  I'll bet it was delicious.  :)

This is the variety that got me hooked on figs :-) .

Very nice pictures!

Guessing that fig would go better with a Savignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer or Marsala than a Chianti, but ... whatever floats your boat ;)

Sounds wonderfully delightful.

Thanks, Bob & Bill, it was splendidly delicious, super ,super sweet.  This little tree is in a pot on my patio, and was planted last January or February.  I think because I had some petunias potted with it, it delayed the main crop, so I'm getting figs now, instead of August/September.  Same with the VdB that is in the pot next to the Italian Honey.  So, I've got main crop figs in December, kind of nice.  And, they both still have leaves.  So, I'm enjoying a late crop.  Pretty sweet!

Figs and wine, what a great idea.  Except maybe for me, figs and a nice Belgian beer.

Patty,

Fantastic that you can get fresh figs from the garden right now. Great pics, wine and figs, classic!
