A little Humor & a lot of Humus

Well I thought I would put some compost on my Fig trees, I asked my little wife to call around and see if she could get me a "good deal" on some cotton burr compost, sure enough the first rattle out of the bag and she found some at a local feed store that the damn rats had gotten into......I thought I was really saving me some $

We opened the first unopened bag and spread it around two of the trees!

Then we got to a bag that the rats had gotten in to, I thought they were lone gone, well I stuck my hand in there and that compost felt really, really lumpy, then I looked at that big ole lummpy thing, guess what?? yep it was a "mother Rat (we talking RAT HERE FOLKS)...I thought that sack of compost was lumpy, it was not 1/2 as lumpy as me drawers was, and after I got kinda over that shock, I reached in that sack (about the bravest thing I have did in ages) and got me another handful of small lumpy stuff outa that darn sack, cept this time there was some movement in there!
And yes there was some movement in me drawers (the new clean ones I had just put on after my shower) I had 3 of them little bast***S right there in my hand.

I then told Figpicker(wife) to finish off the compost spreading while I went to do shower # 2........I'm here to tell yaw, there ain't no way all that un spread compost would fit where she told me to stick that stuff!!

That was some kind of an experience :-)))

Happy gardening Ya'll

Cecil

LMAO Cecil,

You had to post this just around dinner time too. LOL

I'll get you a box of Depends for your birthday! LOL

LOL. Figluvah - thanks for making my day. Gotta to salute your bravery. I would not put my hands into a bag
like that. What if it is a rattles...enjoying his snooze after a nice feed. Man, it was a good laugh.

I needed a good laugh today .

Thanks....

P.s .. Gotta wonder what's worse rats or tree rats ?

John

Cecil,

My mulch had fire ants in it.  It wouldn't have been so bad if I had checked before I grabbed it by the handfuls... or remembered two more times not to stick my hand into the bag and grab some more.  I also got a bitch'in farmer's tan (sunburn) going.

AHHH, The joys of fruit trees.

Cecil, sounds like a "America's funniest video" scene. It should have been taped. A good laugh my friend.

Thanks Guy's

@ James,

I think I read where you are starting your Fig Orchard up near Austin, If so does that area have RKN?....I know/I think J.H. has said he don't have any in his limestone soil

Regards to all..

We've all had something such as that happen - have to say I had to clean laugh spray off the screen when I read that!  Laughing with you not at you - keep that in mind.

We are with Ya Caneyscud!

Glad ya got a kick out of it!

Hi Cecil,

I am about 30 miles NNE of J.H., and I have not seen evidence of RKN at this location.  I do not believe it is due to the alkali soil as I have seen other trees in this are with RKN.

~james

OK, Thanks James

RKN is often found on sites where any farming operations took place in the  past. They especially love sandier soils and do not like heavier clay soils as much.

Cecil, dem dare rats would have scarred the crapola out of me too!!
