A Lot Can Be Learned from Other Propagation forums

As you know, we are mid move!  Figs are all in containers, as are some wine grapes, and a lot of cuttings of both in damp sphagnum.

I LOVE, ADORE my in-ground roses....

So I go to Garden Web and I found some great info on propagating roses!  Same song, different verse.

Would you say that the techniques for propagating grapes and figs are pretty similar?

Chapman,  Yes, they are very similar!  Only difference is grapes don't mind wet feet, and figs do.  Never had a grape rot on me.  Hoping Roses are like grapes.  They all like a moisture retaining warm environment.  I am definitely going to try my roses.  I have some heirloom ones that aren't patented.

That's good to know.  I would like to try rooting grapes and maybe some blueberries.

I saw a post on that other forum "Rugosa roses are hard to propagate from cuttings". I would agree! I've had a real hard time getting them to root.

You could be right, but if you own them, you could air layer?  The forum over there says you can even root your valentine roses fresh from the bouquet.  Hmmmmmmm
