Make sure your visitor does not get used to your ripe figs like dieseler dog loves his figs. It will need quite different ways to stop him.

I'm not sure if it is the same guy as last time, I was comparing pictures and they are about the same size. Usually they are a little thinner this time of the year and fatter in the fall - so who really knows (I forgot to ask him).

No ripe figs yet, but plenty of yummy garbage cans for them to pick through. We usually see a few of these guys wander through in the spring and then again in the fall. Other then occasionally making a mess with the garbage, they don't bother us too much (best neighbors I have). Now, if they bothered my figs, that would be something all together different!

His back was about the height of the mirror on our neighbor's car. The picture is at the edge of their lawn, across the road from my house. They usually come and check out their garbage cans because they never keep them in their garage or shed like they should. Yesterday morning was garbage day and he got their cans and left quite a mess. The bears usually show up in spring and fall but just pass through the area after a day or two. He was totally not concerned by me standing on my lawn taking pictures - just went about his business. They are not too much trouble but on occasion, we'll see a mother and cubs - that is a much more dangerous scenario.
