A Peek @ Progress In Tallahassee

What follows is the result of some of the cuttings given to me by F4F and GWFF members. These twigs have now matured into fig adolescence. Most were started indoors, then to a patio in Feb-Mar, then to partial tree shade in Apr-Jun, and finally to full morning through evening direct sunshine. All have survived a family induced drought that made me convert a flower bed sprayer into a drip irrigator. Several have produced figlets that I knocked off and I left a few for observation.

The most explosive growth by far has been Hobart. There are also photos of Voiture #217, Hardy Chicago & Sal's EL (from Martin a.k.a. dieseler), LSU Gold & Atreano, and TXBA-1 & JH Adriatic. There are a few others but these were easy to photograph without having to disturb the watering system. I wasn't sure if the members wanted to be named here so I'll leave it to their discretion to identify themselves and take credit.

To them I say THANK YOU with an eye on good luck, good advice, and the right balance of heat, humidity, rain, chill hours, and as a result great figs for the years to come.

FYI: About the drip irrigation: I added an in-line fertilizer and also feed in-pot blackberry as well as in-ground blueberry, papaya, and pomegranate. I amended station 5 of the sprinkler system that was devoted to the back yard flower beds. I converted one sprayer in each area for drip irrigation (a total of four) to save water and to water roots instead of leaves and concrete; I capped the others. I water by hand/hose when I am home; I set and run 'PRG B' when I am on travel.

Hi JD,
im curious in seasons to come to hear your description of your plants which by the way are a lot. Not sure if your the guy i sent any to, i wont mention the full name here but intials seem to be the same.

Hey Martin,

Many of these plants will have new homes once it cools a bit. Full Earth Farm, Turkey Hill Farm, an Episcopal school, a few neighbors, and my Mother are ready. I promised I would plant and get them of to a good start. So by the end of the summer/early fall most of them should be more than 24" tall, in the ground at their new locations, and poised for the winter.

I will plant 8-10 in-ground and keep those that I bought in pots...in pots...for now. I may keep a extra one of a few special varieties to observe in-ground versus in-pot growth and development.

Regards,
JD (Yep! It's me...Jimmie)

Thanks Jimmie !
Yes i have in notes and now i remember town your in i had to keep looking at the name to spell it correctly .   ; )

JD good job plants look very healthy. Nice and organized cant wait to have my own House, living in a condo sucks specially when your a fignut.

JD, very nice plants. Hope these plants grow up in a hurry to supply tons of figs. You have some top quality variants.

Nel, verrrry soon even 2 acres with greenhouse is not enough. LOL. I trust  you will progress from condo to landed property in no time. Honestly I
have been having little laughs that my wife can't find me in my "jungle". Its sooo peaceful. I won't be surprise the wife would need a fog horn to locate
me. If I can afford it, I would even built a fig tree house, not just a play house but a real house.

Very nice JD and thanks for the link to tags.

Paully, I have filled in my 1 acre already with 150+ trees!
