In My Climate I stop pinching on August 1st,and:
I start pinching off(removing),fruits,on August 15!.
Any fruit that is not in the stagnant stage ,and is smaller,in size, compared to most other figs in the stagnant stage,on August 15,must be removed,as they will never ripe till October 25,the first frost ,average date, here in New Jersey.
Those young fruits will only delay the ripening of the stagnant stage fruits.
At the same date ,any trunk(sucker),or branch that is void of fruits, and it might impede the Sun ,to the rest of Branches, should also be removed,in my climate.
This is done to help the tree, and it does help.
Of course this measures are necessary only in Temperate climates, with short Summers, and not in ideal climates, where the tree can be left alone.
