My guess would be just the opposite of what you stated. The one that was shaded took longer to ripen or in another sense had a few more days to fully mature giving it more time to fully develop (eg/ slow cooker vs microwave) This of course is my opinion but being in a hot climate this is what I have come to find. In June, July and August night time temps are above 80 and day temps hit high 90-100 so no time for rest. It seems some figs swell and ripen in 4-5 days at times. Being fast will win races but is not always better. LOL :)
