A question i have about young or old tree cuttings

I have a stupid question put I had to ask because I see some comments on YouTube and on this forum ,asking if the cuttings are from an old tree, and some fig donors kelp pointing out that they have cuttings from an old tree.
Does it play any roll in the quality of the fig if the cuttings came from a old or young tree ?

I don't see how it would matter he actual age of the tree. As long as the cutting is one year old, or even a one year old with a piece of 2 yr old wood attached will do the job.

i used to ask the same question.. only about human. if 97 yr old man has a new baby with much much younger woman.. how old is that baby? my friends great grand father had a son when he was 103.. he was civil war vet and back them young men were rare catch i hear.. x)

New growth does tend to have more stored energy per unit just from the nature of how plants develop.  Still, as long as the scion has enough stored energy to grow initial roots and a node to shoot new growth from it has the potential to regenerate into a new plant.
