A rare summer week in the North like in a 'fig heaven'

I had been complaining about the harsh winter here in the months before spring (http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=5051957 ). Well, here is something this week to be more thankful for. A whole week mostly sunny and hot and almost like a 'fig heaven' temperatures (with our standards). We seldom see 34*C (93F) here. I am sure it will do a lot of goods for the plants and the fruits on the plant, though there Will be more watering required. The cost of city water (per cubic meter) just went up and and an equal amount in surcharge for sewer usage for the water used even though this water goes into plant pots and not into the city sewage!

Hi Ottawan
We  have similar weekly forcast here in Kitchener, daily highs of 29 to 33 celcius. Although I am lucky to still be using rain water from about a month ago, the barrels will soon be dry. I'm hoping for at least a few  hours of rain to fill them up again.

Ottawan, While you are having fig weather, we are having mosquito weather. Too many cool days, overcast with rain had an impact on slower snow melt and it turned out to be an ideal weather for breeding mosquitos. Imagine going to the garden without boots, long pants & jacket with hood -- one would be donating pints of blood. Hot weather will keep them off, hopefully coming very soon. We need hot weather to have the figs ripening nicely. Your lowest temp. seems to be our highest.

same here on shores of lake ontario.....hot and sunny....

we got no figs to eat yet...but lots of cold wine & beer to keep us cool

101F extreme drought here in Dallas,TX. Not fun at all.

NE U.S. is suppose to be warm to very hot all week long .

Here in MA today was 93.

Are 90+ degree temps better than 80-90 degrees for ripening figs?

Akram I too as complaining about our long winter and bad spring all of a sudden its too hot for my liking lol. Toronto too will be in the 30's celcius all this week with a few days reaching the 40's with humidity. Man I hate humidity feels like being in a sauna and my darn a/c is still not fixed I must of lost 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks.

Oh yes, it hit 97*F (46*C) with 45% RH, a rare occurrence in Ottawa. All outdoor sports were canceled except at the swimming pools.
A couple of pedestrian young ladies (strangers) dropped in our house and one was really dehydrated and almost crying. My wife and grand-children served them cold drinks, put the fans on (no A/C) and let them rest for a while and then gave them a ride home a mile away. They told my wife that one of us was crying for help because of dehydration but no one would stop the car to help. My wife suggested that probably it was the lack of proper clothing (walking on road-side from the beach in beach clothing) so people were reluctant to give a ride.

Ottawan, we could borrow some of those heat. Weather still on the cool side with some rain and I am starting to get ripe figs like LSU Gold, Osborne Prolific, Beall, Adriano etc. If this weather continue, my only hope of a good tasting fig could be Desert King.

Akram yesterday was 49 celcius 120 farenheit with the humidex felt like hell on earth. A/C was repaired at noon and broke down by 5pm was 32 celcius indoors. Hope my 1G potted figs at my parents are still alive.
