A Real, Genuine, Mensch...

I recently contacted a forum member, who lives within driving distance, and asked for two fig varieties that I knew he grew.  I asked if I could buy a couple of his plants.  After some back, and forth e-mailing, I finally got to drive out to meet this gentleman, just this past weekend.  I was warmly recieved, and he graciously offered me other varieties that I did not specifically ask for.  I politely declined his generous offers.  When I offered to pay for the plants, he more or less said that knowing his figs will get a good home was payment enough.  I was a total stranger to this man, and we only knew each other because of this forum.

Thank-you for giving me the fig varieties that I have been searching for over the last months.  More to the point...thanks for being so friendly, open, helpful, and so very generous.  I will never forget your kindness.

I also know that this gent. will be sending a rare fig variety to a wonderful lady who lives down south.  She was also searching for a special, rare fig, and he also made her dreams come true.

A real mensch...a truly rare variety.

Frank,

Isn't a great feeling? Two total strangers brought together through a forum. Quite possible becoming life long friends now.

Maybe our world leaders need to join, maybe they can learn how to get along with one another.

Just like you Frank, I have had the pleasure of meeting quite a few members and have been treated  like Royalty. With a great story to tell about each one.
I have many more to go. With great stories to be told.

Life is short, let's live it up.

Love stories like this!

It's great to read that others were helped by members of this forum.  Initially brought together by the simple, fig...then by brotherhood.

Nice.

Frank

I have also had the pleasure of meeting someone who has helped me out with good advice and rare varieties without expecting anything in return . In fact he gave me a Colle de Damme Blanc last time I saw him .
In fact another forum member said he gave him his one and only of a specific variety . Thanks Nelson .

What a great story, Frank!

Great story, truely brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for sharing that with us, I've come to the conclusion that there is some kind of magical powers in figs or any type of growing.

This is wonderful.  I've also received some cuttings from some generous people on this forum that had no idea who I was and didn't want anything in return.  I am so grateful. It made me feel really good and especially gave me joy when other circumstances were getting me down.

Thank-you all for postings your comments, and  for sharing your feelings and stories.  Nice to read about so many positive experiences.

Frank

My biggest thanks goes to Jon for giving us all the gift of this forum, and for giving us  the opportunity  to meet others who share this passion for figs.  We visit each other every time we click the "Post Message" option.  Thanks Jon for all your efforts!
