Yesterday I picked up a couple of new trees to keep me going while my Brown Turkey mends from our storm damage - a Hardy Chicago and an Improved Celeste.

The Chicago has quite a bit of rust on the leaves. I wouldnt have bought it , but we never see that variety offered here.  

Im pretty good at treating my three existing trees with copper as a preventative and I'm wondering how I should approach the new tree as I up-pot it this weekend.  Should I go ahead and clip the infected leaves and give her a shot of fertilizer when I transplant the tree? Or should I leave the leaves alone until after it has adjusted to the new pot?

 Should I remove the breba crop that's on the tree to encourage new leaf (and branch) growth?

Im more interested in getting the plant off to a healthy start in its new home than getting a crop of figs right now...

Neem oil,use as directed on bottle,I would remove the leaves,and put them in a fire pit.I had it bad two years ago,neem oil worked very well,The copper works,neem oil is more natural,and dose not affect the fruit.Good luck!Vic from N.J.
