a weird thought!

I wish I had a huge, mature, fig food forest with raspberries growing under them.  i just want to pitch a tent in there and live of the fruits... I don't think I would need anything else.

Well, at least you would be eating luscious fruit and getting a good amount of fiber: Two reasons to be happy.

I've got 50ft of 3 different kinds of raspberries, and 6 inground fig trees. Does that count as a fig forest?

In a year or two I should be having enough of the two to eat figs-fresh, dried, and candied-year round. I think I can live on those.

Hi Grasa,
You would be missing meat !
And I would add some Tayberry bushes .
But for drinking coffee on weekends and free days ... That does sound good .

So you know what ? I've got some work for you: Go outside water and fertilize those small trees !

Grasa, just wait when the LA Fig Forest starts growing... I'm going to relocate you :)

Cannot be considered a Forest, but since i decided to take better care of the tree I planted for my son 24 years ago... I am amazed how it responded. I  let the chicken scratch the heck of its surface roots,  as it had too many grasses growing up to the trunk, it was compacted with grass roots, the chicken did the job.  I added more soil that had lots of chicken poopy in it,  I built a raised bed around it and put some 10  wheel barrows of good garden soil from other parts of the garden, screened to rocks, planted crimson  clover,  when it grew, I added another couple of inches of soil, covering the clover.

I put the compost drum and the worm bin under it, so it is getting drips of both composters.   Planted Tulameen raspberries on one end, and salmon berries on the opposite corner with many nitrogen fixers,  clover,  lupine, and a few other fig varieties under it. Surprisingly, even in the shade of the big tree, these new fig plants are doing better than those in pots.

I soak a scoop full of my birds poop from the night in water and  dilute it in water and pour in the new raised bed.

The result is a few brebas and tons of main crop figs.... I cannot believe how many... well, I will have figs all the way to November.

No room for a tent..
